MXR Poly Blue Octave.

First impressions are positive...I had a POG2 for a few years and it's nice to jump back into the polyphonic octave world. Really liking how compact this puppy is.

Is this like a Blue Box with more controls? It’s certainly smaller than any of the EHx poly-octave pedals.

It is like the Blue Box and beyond...so one mode is Blue Box with an added phaser effect, and then the polyphonic version has a vibrato leslie effect to it...and then you can have built-in fuzz on top.

Alright I spent a couple of hours with it going into my pedalboard.

Amp as per usual was a Matchless Lightning, and I played my Gibson Firebird with it.

The tracking is very similar to the POG2's...I managed to get all sorts of crazy sounds...creepy oran stuff, synthy stuff...really fun pedal. I was surprised by how well the built-in fuzz works...a tighter sound that blends well with the octaves. You can also use it by itself by turning the octaves off.

The monophonic version feels like it is a bit quieter compared to the polyphonic one, but this might also be the shift of EQ of going from one mode to the other.

It is incredible how many sounds they managed to cramp into this little box. If you can find one at a good price I'd recommend picking it up.

This looks cool. I quite like the sound of the modulation, and the poly octave up sounds to my ears are much more pleasant than a POG. Also sparkly, which is always a bonus.

How does the fuzz sound on its own (modulation and octaves at zero)?

The fuzz by itself sounds surprisingly ok...a bit on the dark side and smoother...you can only adjust the volume level on it, so it is not very flexible, but if you wanted a decent fuzz sound for one song only in a set it could be a good option. I actually read somewhere that the fuzz was digital so I was surprised that I didn't hate it instantly.

It does feel that it has been designed to work well with the pedal for sure...adding the Poly Blue in front of my Fuzz Factory or Sunface sounded a bit rougher around the edges...not necessarily a bad thing, of course...depends on what you're going for.

Those are really cool! I was reading up on them one day. They seem really versatile considering the small foot print.

Totally...they are so small...it's incredible how much stuff is in there..four octaves, two modes, built in fuzz, phaser and leslie/vibrato + an expression pedal jack. Madness!!
