Help me arrange my pedalboard

Post by tequila_in_teacups » Mon Nov 13, 2023 8:12 pm

I've never been terribly good at puzzling out how to set up a more complex pedalboard. Hoping someone or someones who are good at this sort of thing can help me make the most of my pedals.

What I have:
  • Tuner
  • Mooer Yellow Comp
  • DOD250 clone
  • EHX Oceans 12 stereo reverb
  • Boss BD-2
  • EHX Silencer noise gate
  • Catalinbread Belle Epoch delay
  • Boss LS-2 Line Selector. Also a second A/B/Y switcher that I may or may not need.
I'm using a Princeton Reverb and a Roland JC-22 and would love to use both amps at the same time.

What I'm hoping to do, if possible, is:
  • Reverb before BD-2.
  • Make use of the stereo nature of the Oceans 12 and send left to one amp and right to the other (Including the BD-2, if possible)
  • Capture the BD-2 in the noise gate. I may add a fuzz at some stage also.
  • Have the Mooer comp, DOD, reverb, and delay in a separate loop I can switch to for my clean sound.
Roughly what I'm working with:

Is this even possible at all, let alone with the switchers I have? How would I go about connecting everything up?

Thanks!

Do you want the BD2 on both sides of the Oceans 12 stereo? That’s the biggest difficulty that’s jumping out at me first read.

Oops, just reread. Can't the line selector turn one input to two outputs?

Can the Oceans 12 do one channel wet and the other dry?

I realised I never came back to this. In the end, what I wanted to do just wasn't achievable, so I kept it simple. Ditched the switchers and the BD-2 runs into the reverb, with one output to each amp.

The Oceans has a lot more tricks than I realised, and more than I recall any video demonstrating. It can be a bit fiddly to make use of them – a lot of it is accessed through secondary functions – but it can do some cool things. I particularly like the 'Tide' function, which modulates the pan of the stereo output. It's pretty cool.

I actually think what you want to do is possible, but with some of the other folks, I'm curious as to clarification on a few things you were asking for...

The issue is having mono pedals on a stereo out- can't be done.

But does it sound cool having the BD-2 on ONE channel? Can you buy another? Can verb be in mono and you use some other stereoizer after? Could be a stereo delay dialed minimally or a dimension-c or something...or a second reverb for pre-drive sounds wired mono.

Then clarifying, if you have your clean-chain and want to swap between that and the whole stereo verb setup, its theoretically not impossible but does such a loop switcher exist? The line selector maybe does it IN MONO. Would be easy to custom build though. It would need to deal with the stereo again which is problematic. It would need to turn one loop on while another off. Another way would be to simply split a/b and run to another amp channel input at the other end, although you'll be leaving those input open for noise
