Yeah, that was kinda my point. I wouldn't bother with a Small Clone, which is a 'nice' sounding chorus pedal.

You might be able to get creative pairing a flanger or vibrato pedal (or both) into a short (almost slap-back) delay and minimal repeats?

The delay and feedback controls are where a lot of those weird/unhinged/magic Polychorus sounds reside.
