v1 or v2? I have v1 (got it in a local trade) but I think I might prefer to have that tone control and the second cassette voice

With guitar, I think v1 is just fine but for studio processing I think the v2 might be better.

It's a V1. I think I'm mainly interested in the lag and wobble functions and it'll serve my purposes just fine.

But I'm eager to try it out as outboard processing as well, so we will see.

Yes, I have a splitter. Im pluging my bass vi in a volume pedal, then it goes to the palmer y-box. One output to the bass amp, one output to the pedalboard with fuzz and delay and stuff and then to the guitar amp. Now I'm looking to get the bass amp slightly out of sync and pitch to kind of widen the sound and make it sound more like two people playing.
FYI, that effect is generally more pleasant on guitar than on bass.

People's brains tend not to like time/panning based effects in the bass frequency range. Because of the wavelengths and frequencies involved, we can't discriminate fine localizing cues like time/phase discrepancies in the bass range. It's why we perceive bass as mono, and why you can't pin down the location of a subwoofer in a room the way you can a tweeter.

A splitter without a small delay will probably sound better to most people than with a delay on one side, at least when you're playing low notes. People don't generally like the sound of two bassists playing at once, the small differences in timing tend to sound messy rather than rich at that frequency range. Same reason double-tracked bass parts aren't a studio staple the way double-tracked guitars and vocals are. It's a quirk of the way our brains process sound. A lot of that stuff falls apart at low frequencies.

Ah, yes, I see what you mean. I think it depends on the setup and the goal one's trying to achieve. In my case, I do not intend to widen a bass sound or to mess around with stereo panning but to create the illusion of a guitar and a bass playing simultanously. I believe this will benefit from a slight variance in timing between the two amps. Of course it can all go terribly wrong but you know - nothing ventured, nothing gained…

If all goes well I will be at my practice space later this evening and can at least try out the basic concept with a delay pedal. Will report! :)

Yup, with a delayed signal only, the results are quite underwhelming as the sounds of the two amps are already very different. Let's see what the Deco does to it. It definitely needs a bit of pitch modulation.

ebay kleinanzeigen. Usually a good place to buy and sell musical gear (despite a strange place for pretty much everything else). They used a hijacked account and I payed with Paypal friends...
