I’m not sure which mode I like most. They’re both very usable. The original circuit is darker and the custom seems to cut through a bit more…
What kind of amp are you using? I've never set the tone past 11 o'clock with a Fender amp.

I was running it through a Matchless Spitfire. I was also playing around with settings and different effects to dial. While I haven’t got it “locked in” it still sounded gorgeous here.

It’s made the Matchless come alive in a new way. I was primarily using a Benson Germanium Fuzz as my only drive. But, this BD-2w is where it’s at. The Matchless is a little picky with drives. I thought a Rat would be my main drive with it because that’s what I always used with Vox amps. I learned that not to be the case. They can still sound good with Rats, just not as good as Voxes at the low/medium gain that I used them for.

Yeah much different preamp. The C-30 would be the one for that but it's still different. It's like a muscle car version of an AC-30.
The Spitfire and 30/15 have the most headroom in the Matchless range. I recall liking the MXR Dist+ with it

My BD-2 rename and makeover is nearly complete. Just needs a few coats of clear. Kept it Boss style in the end.

Waterslide decals. I managed to apply them close to perfect, so they should be invisible after a few coats of clear.

Being patient paid off for me, just scored a boxed BD-2 for £69 from Richtone. It looks pretty much brand new https://richtonemusic.co.uk/boss-bd-2-b ... nd-124878/

I'll pick it up on my way home from work tomorrow and then get to thinking about how to personalise it.

Whoop! TGP can keep their fancy pants overdrives and Klon circle-jerks... BD-2s, Rats & Muffs run in OSG blood :D

I've never tried a BD-2 purely because of the name, how fickle I am! But this thread meant I had to try one out, and your Kirby version made me realise that if I love it I can just change the look.
Who knows, perhaps it'll knock the KTR off my board ;)

I love my BD-2 most of the time but the OD I use the most is a Colorsound Overdriver clone from Electrical Orange. Similar idea to the BD-2 but different way of getting there.

My BD-2W has been a staple on my board since I got it. I love it for everything from a slight thickening to very crunchy gain. Recently picked up a regular BD-2 along with a DS-1 because it was through hole and too cheap to pass up.

Anybody have any slightly drastic mods they would recommend? For the DS-1 I was thinking about the Wampler JCM mod or the like, but everything I find online for the BD-2 seems to be pretty tame "swap this cap out for more low end" which is pretty much what my Waza version already does

Have fun! The ODR-1 is an interesting pedal. I especially liked the classic rock sound I got from putting a Maxon TS-808 in front.
