Your Favorite Boss RV Compact Reverb?
Not which one you think is BEST.
Which one you define as your FAVORITE.
Of the ones in the poll. No outside food or drink.
And WHY. In sonic terms.
Please. And, thank you.
(I've got an incoming NPD I'm excited about. I enjoy the discussion 'round these parts.)

I chose RV3 as I especially like the plate reverb on it PLUS you have the added bonus of delay if you want it.

Re: Your Favorite Boss RV Compact Reverb?
I was surprised by the clear winner when I cast my vote.....then realised there were only two votes in. I'm with Johnny: RV-3 > RV-2.
I've probably said this before, but I think a few of the '3' series pedals trump the 2s. As for the '4' series: I always wondered how come you never see any, and thought they probably skipped them for some reason. Then I saw this, which, if anything, makes it even weirder that there's essentially no '4' series.

I like the RV-2 the most. I've had mine for 20+ years and have tried many others in that time but always come back to it. It's really grainy and lo-fi. At high blends it's noisy. But for what I like, it just sounds right. I've basically never strayed from the plate setting. A close second favorite for me is the RV-5. The RV-5 is cleaner and more polished sounding.

The Hall on the RV-3 is easily my favorite out of all pedal hall reverbs, and - as mentioned - the ability to do reverb+delay takes it from best to bestest for me...

Re: Your Favorite Boss RV Compact Reverb?
I only have experience with the rv-3 and rv-5 and the rv-3 is the only one i still want to own so I guess that makes it the winner, the reason is the plate and the bonus is the delay.
I use the red panda context the same way i used this basically.

I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

RV-6 does everything. Liked it so much more than the old reverb that I also got a 2nd one. I mostly use +delay, dynamic, & shimmer modes.

RV6 for shimmer. But that’s the only one I’ve ever owned. And I switched it for a blue sky & never looked back.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Man, I want to like the Boss RV series. I tried an RV6, admittedly very briefly, in a guitar center and it just didn’t jive. Maybe I didn’t give it a fair assessment.
I like very ambient verbs.
My wife needs a good verb for her Keyboard and I may use it as an excuse to try and RV series again.

My vote broke the tie between all of the pedals LOL. Voted for rv5 because imo its got the best mod out of all of them, and Alex Scally from Beach House uses one

I really like the RV-6 shimmer. With the tone control rolled way back it has a nicely swampy quality.sal paradise wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 4:52 amRV6 for shimmer. But that’s the only one I’ve ever owned. And I switched it for a blue sky & never looked back.
The 6 is the only one I have experience with though, so I don’t feel comfortable voting.

Re: Your Favorite Boss RV Compact Reverb?
I have all of them and the FRV-1.
I voted for the RV-3. I like how it’s grainy and can get big. The delays and glitchiness are bonuses.

The best is the FRV-1.

...If you want your guitar volume to decrease as you turn the reverb up. Yes, its a good emulation of the Fender unit, but I couldn't get on with the real thing either.
