Will also do a drive shootout & see what combos work best.
The light rat into Russian muff clone does give a lovely thick tone. Still keen to see what TS style into Rat is like, and why not try the others…

Another rubbish phone recording. Excuse the dodgy playing & timing. Never was good at improvising.sal paradise wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 9:35 amOk! I’ve lost my tuner, but that doesn’t matter right now. Hooked it up quickly with whatever cables I had lying around.
Little soundclip with middle pickup & flat clean channel on the amp. Everything on
Google drive audio clip
The BF-2 is really subtle, are all models like that? Like even everything full isn’t mental.
But it sounds creamy & ott & even the analogue delay has plenty of length for me to do more than what I want.
Super happy. Thanks for all the advice!!!
I’m loving how with the bridge PAF it goes from thick & messy in the rhythm to super clean on the high notes.
Plus free dog barking at the end.

Dude, that sounds coooooool. Nice work.
Keep it up, keep us updated!
Oh, and there are apparently trimpots in the BF-2 that can be adjusted, but that's all I know and I'd do a lot of reading first if I were gonna go twisting em, but maybe someone dialed it to "subtle"? I mean, mine isn't the craziest, but I wouldn't really call it subtle.
See how the Eno stacks up, and maybe go from there.

My BF-2 isn't subtle at all, unless you set most of the pots to close to nothing. I bought it used, though, so not sure about the trim pots. Compared to YouTube videos, mine behaves like it apparently should. It's very 80s.

Mine is a later model, so don’t know if that makes a huge difference
Still, it’s such a cool pedal! Adds a layer of “something modulated” no matter the settings, and it’s useable.
I had an old non-branded 70s flanger when I was a kid & it only did one thing: ruin everything

I've got a 1982 MIJ and a 2000 MIT, and I can't hear a difference.sal paradise wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 11:38 amWhat year/country is yours?thenewromance wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 11:29 amMy BF-2 isn't subtle at all, unless you set most of the pots to close to nothing. It's a 1984 from Japan. Bought it years ago, didn't find a use for it. This thread helped make it reappearsal paradise wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 11:38 amWhat year/country is yours?thenewromance wrote: ↑Tue Sep 06, 2022 11:29 amMy BF-2 isn't subtle at all, unless you set most of the pots to close to nothing. That's interesting, and news to me. I was one of those ('80s, rather than '90s) BF-2 users and, when I replaced my long-gone original with one I bought from someone on here, was a bit perplexed by my inability to find the mechanical droning dalek setting I used back in the day.
The simplest explanation is that I just forgot how I had it set, but must open it up for a look at them trim-pots some time. Still does a damn fine chorus sound, mind you.

My first BF-2 was a dud. I returned it to GC in a week, and I think it's because someone had set it to "insane". I had no trouble dialing in the two I got a couple years later.
During all this, I did the most cursory reading, and if I remember, there's 3 trimpots, and one of them you don't wanna mess with. I never did, but look up some info before you go screwing around in there.
That said, maybe you can wind up the resonance to your liking, and if that Eno clone sounds different, you can use it as a benchmark to match to!

Re: We will rebuild! (aka recovering from multi-fx)
I know I'm a bad influence around here, but I got a Donner variant of that ELady and it's stellar. Bought a second for my live board and it's been on there... 7 years? I think any of the 3-knob flanger clones with a toggle switch are the same design, so there are cheaper options than the Mooer for an ELady and they all seem to sound pretty great. Donner, Mooer, Rowin, and Koogo are ones I've seen that I'm about sure are the same.UlricvonCatalyst wrote: ↑Wed Sep 07, 2022 3:53 amThe last thing I need is more flangers! (Then again, I've long hankered after the Mooer E-Lady)
I don't have a DEM for comparison, but I DO have an 18V Electric Mistress, that's what my ear was tuned to, and the Donner has never left me wanting for much more flanger for my live board, and it's my only modulation pedal.

Re: We will rebuild! (aka recovering from multi-fx)
Update: loving playing around with the immerse, delay & flanger on the clean channel.
Still unsure on drive preferences- I’m a pushed Marshall kinda guy for my heavier sounds, so been leaning towards TS clone to push the amp dirt & then the rat for other fun.
One problem I’m having with the immerse: it becomes super-aggressive on the amp’s drive channel. I’m running it in front of the amp. Never been a fan of using effects loops for simplicity of borrowing gear etc, yet also never had this problem with a reverb before… should I run it in the loop?

Re: We will rebuild! (aka recovering from multi-fx)
I've always used my pedals straight into the front for simplicity's sake, but it might be worth trying it through the effects loop. Especially before deciding that you don't like it or want something else. Try it out as much and in as many ways as you can!sal paradise wrote: ↑Sat Sep 10, 2022 9:29 pmOne problem I’m having with the immerse: it becomes super-aggressive on the amp’s drive channel.
