Pretty great! It's never quite as smooth as tube breakup but it sounds awesome to my ears and its fun to play.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 8:12 amWell, I'll be damned. That looks delicious. How did it overdrive?

Oh, for sure it'll never be exact but for the kind of noise I make...no one is going to know the difference very excited to try it out!Dr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 8:33 amPretty great! Currently now on the hunt for an appropriate poweramp. One of the little class D bass amps would be perfect but none seem to have an FX loop.
Current frontrunner is the Seymour Duncan PowerStage 170

I tested it by plugging it in to the power-amp in on a Sunn Beta and it definitely rips.

Re: Blackface Bassman in a box?
I think they dont have an FX loop because they're just power amps. A loop is typically between the preamp and power amp, so you just put whatever you like in between this preamp and the power amp box.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 9:36 amCurrently now on the hunt for an appropriate poweramp. Re: Blackface Bassman in a box?
Yeah, they all are just little basic preamps and poweramps in tiny packages. The Trace Elliot Elf, for instance, is tiny, cheap and 200w - which is more than I'd ever need for guitar - no way to bypass the TE preamp though.Dr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 9:46 amI think they dont have an FX loop because they're just power amps. Meh, I'll find a solution, even if I just build a Class-D kit myself. The important & hard part is the bit you've done!

Mooer Baby Bomb popped up in my search. 30 watts, 100 quid, and tiny.

30 watts won't even touch the sides in the sort of situation I'm looking at using this (driving a cab at stage volumes, often little dive bars with the cabs unmiked. If we're talking solid-state then 100-150 is likely to be what I'd like to allow room for transients and avoid any nasty clipping. For home use I could just use the Mooer, an EHX Magnum, etc etc...but will likely stick to the VibroChamp.Dr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 10:21 amMooer Baby Bomb popped up in my search. 30 watts, 100 quid, and tiny.

There are options like the Carvin Mach 100 (or the Harley Benton Thunder 99 which is basically a copy), but if you need that high of wattage then I think the Powerstages are your best betjohnnysomersett wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 10:26 am30 watts won't even touch the sides in the sort of situation I'm looking at using this (driving a cab at stage volumes, often little dive bars with the cabs unmiked. If this was my set up I would be really tempted by the Orange Pedal Baby 100.

I looked at those and they would be perfect but I'm trying to keep this pedalboard-size friendly, ideally to fit both on a nano.fuzzjunkie wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 2:06 pmIf this was my set up I would be really tempted by the Orange Pedal Baby 100.
