It was a backup made for a one-off for a customer that was later surplussed on ebay that I purely lucked into. It sounds amazing and I love it dearly.

I've always enjoyed art on guitars like that. Or just art like that. Hendrix's Monterey Strat, Clapton's SG from Cream. LOVE the guitars.

Amen! Kinda disappointing that that particular guitar fad didn't catch on more. I have something like that I'm slowly working on but I have someone else I've contacted about doing the artwork on the body. Very early stages of planning but at least I know it'll be a stacked knob Jazz Bass. This started when I ended up with a rather nice polka dot pickguard for a J Bass from Decoboom while I was also looking for art from a particular artist. I contacted them about just buying art of theirs in general but that led to painting a guitar body. They're in the middle of moving workshop spaces and getting ready to launch a new website so it's a bit on hold til everything settles.

See, I know I have a problem because that simple request is kind of a daunting task.
Daunting task part 2: get enough patch cables, batteries, and power supplies to play something with all pedals on at the same time.
All the lights in the neighborhood dim momentarily when it's fired up.

That sounds amazing. You definitely need to post a project thread about that one!!!

I will when it gets there. Hell, I still need to put together my P Bass project and take some pics. I've been so busy it's still just a pile of parts.

I totally understand that. I've been sitting on a couple bodies from Deed_Poll for over 5 years that I haven't finished.

There are few pedals I wish I jived with more than a Fuzz Face. And that's ok, but I'd love to love them almost as much as you 'cause that pile is *super cool*. They sound great for other people, but the only one I've ever clicked with is the one that apparently sounds least like a Fuzz Face.

Once I read your OP, Screamadelica was playing before I even started to type.

Play them proud and loud, enjoy yourself. It's not a problem unless you make it a problem. ;)
It's only been a month since I posted this.

I'm pretty sure this thread is like that tape from The Ring.

Starting to get it. Starting to.

Left to right, in build order:

Silicon, BC108b, hfe about 330s. High gain, will live at the practice space. Biased at 1.4/4.5

Silicon, BC108a, hfe in the 140s. A monster. Roars, with some bite. The one that suits my current needs best. Biased at 1.4/4.5

Germanium, vintage military OC42, hfe 73/134. Really eye-opening. I'm getting this Fuzz Face germanium thing. Full and swirly, but with lots of body and fine texture. Biased at -0.6/-4.5

Germanium, GT308V, hfe 82/106. Really full, still zeroing in. Trying to bias this one a little smoother, experimenting with -0.8/-6.35. Digging it so far.

What has this thread done to me?

Thanks to everyone who's helped with questions. They're still not quite as cool as this stack of discs. Maybe custom paint jobs will help.

I'm Mike, and I might also have a problem now. I need to put on Screamadelica and chill out.

Next, max out the volume on one and zero out the Fuzz to use it as a gnarly, dirty boost! Always sounded more "Hendrix" to me than using one with the Fuzz maxed out but that seems to be the way everyone likes to use them.

It's funny how, despite them "all being the same pedal", they are all so different, isn't it?
