i'll give you a few clues.

1. it's an effect BUT it's not a pedal
2. my dad had one when he was younger and has been bugging me for years to get one
3. it's bigger than a vintage DMM

this is the most jank working copicat i've ever seen. see the thing covered in masking tape? that's the mains transformer. guess where it shouldn't be? THERE. but i'm gonna be working on it a bit over the next few weeks.
