New Maesto Pedals
I'm surprised a thread about these didn't start up when the news broke yesterday. Are these generally seen as underwhelming, or is this something to be excited about? (Personally I don't get the thinking behind starting with so many dirt pedals, but that's probably just me.) Aesthetically, I think they're fun, and the form factor is nice. I know they're MIC, but also they don't cost $300/per...

I think the fuzz might be the one. I did just see an Andy demo from reverb that had the OD and the Fuzz stacked which definitely peaked my interest a bit

I know what you mean, although the chorus pedal had some nice stuff going for it. The delay wasn't too bad, but honestly I feel like I got those same sounds from my old Memory Toy.

Fuzz pedal sounds pretty good on the demo. Nothing remarkable but a decent velco-y rasp to it

Re: New Maesto Pedals
I wanted to be excited but I just... am not. It doesn't seem like any kind of resurrection or reissue of any of the circuits Maestro is actually famous for and they certainly don't stand out in the way Maestro effects did. They just kind of remind me of visual knock-offs using generic circuits, not too far off from the Fender effects pedals that they put out every so often.

I don't disagree. It also seems strange to me that the pedal they're most famous for isn't the first thing they'd put out.

I agree. Faithfully reissue the old fuzz, ring Modulator, and Brassmaster. Then I’d be excited.

That's the thing! They had really interesting and unique stuff they could have reissued or even modernized but they settled for the easy and more generic route.i love sharin foo wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 6:06 pmThat too! Re: New Maesto Pedals
I know I'm not a business person, but I don't understand how companies think that they're gonna gauge interest by releasing things that no one necessarily wants. If they started strong with the classic stuff that everyone loved, they could make a killing, and then expand to other stuff...

Backstage at Gibson:
"Let's reissue Maestro!"
"OK, let's start with the fuzz."
"Um, the fuzz is what Maestro was built on."
"Well, yeah. But so was the Robot Les Paul."
"Really, guys?"
"OK, so..."
"buh.."
::pedals ship:: ::no fuzz::

Re: New Maesto Pedals
Ahhhhh, they're sure pretty to look at.
They sound good to me, but in a total meat and potatoes kind of way. The fuzz seemed like the standout, but it really would be cool if they'd bring back the weird stuff.
