Just grab a centura IMO :)
This.

The Centura is great. I use it in the boring clean boost way but leave it always on. I nudge up the output with my foot if I want a bit more volume. Just sounds better when it's on.

I've inquired about buying a Centura kit.

If I end up liking it, I may get a second.

I'm still touring with an original Klon on one board and a KTR on the other, checking them in cargo holds of aircraft and sending them on semi trucks with the rest of the gear.

And that seems like maybe a silly thing to do if I like the Centura even 90% as much.

If it goes through and I put one together, I'll try to do some controlled tests and make some notes.

These can't be beat, and they're less than 2 bills for a new one.

This is a UK company somewhat local to me who are getting in a small number of new KTRs so it sounds like the new version with different diodes is ready to be released on the world.

Unless ol’ Bill can produce these in significant numbers that seems like a self-defeating pricing strategy to me.

Sure they’ll sell out, but a big chunk of them will go up on the secondary market for more.

Looks like they sold out within a couple of minutes

People are so weird. The whole Klon saga has just been bananas. There are a million clones that nobody would ever pick out in a blind test, and yet the secondary market for everything Klon just remains insane.

I don't understand why Bill doesn't just sell the damn thing to Boss and let us all have a KLON for $99. Obv take a good deal that benefits him. Maybe he's tried and all the deals are shit.

Judging from the plethora of Clons it seems the circuit is well and truly in the public domain now, so surely there'd be nothing to stop Boss doing one without cutting a deal. That said, seeing the prices of the Waza Tonebenders on the "secondary" market, they might even trump used Klon prices if they did do an official but limited run version.

I hate how this endless chatting about Klons still affects me.

I have owned and sold a silver Klon and a second gen KTR. I like them fine, but at the end of the day they are just a nice OD pedal, and as I get older and more out of touch, the less I really care about ODs. They all sort of start to sound the same to me.

So I sell them... and then I look at these damn threads and second guess myself. I mean, not that much, but man it's annoying. The way guitars + pedals + amps work for my ears is that the same gear seems to change sounds every other time you turn it on.

If it makes any difference--

A Ceriatone Centura with some old ITT diodes I bought on eBay sounds closer to my silver Klon than my first-generation KTR does.

The original Centura diodes didn't sound quite right, but these other ones I got are so close I really think the pedals are fully-interchangeable now.

I still hang onto the Centaur because it's been with me since 2007, I do like using it, and I'd hate to sell it if the value keeps going through the stratosphere (lots of people sold '59 Les Pauls when they hit $10k...)

But functionally? The Centura-with-ITT-diodes is fine. That's a result I didn't fully expect (I was hoping for "close enough"), but it might make things easier on you if you have regret about selling.

Interesting, can you link me to the diodes you recommend? Not that my Ceriatone is retired thanks to the KTR I might as well have a little fun with it and try swapping out the diodes.
