If the circuit in question is the same as that V816 Distortion Booster plug-in effect, I became a big fan last year.

Less "brontosaurus" than a Fuzz Face, more gnashing. Working on some DIY builds of them really made me appreciate the delicate balance between components in that circuit layout. Built more or less like a Fuzz Face with a different character, clearer (to me), and fully ripping.

Mr. Shake,

Not sure what the schematic is for the Distortion Booster that you made but the one for the built-in fuzz is here, uses two BC108 A transistors:

Also, Vox made a V830 Distortion Booster pedal in the 90's, not sure if it is similar to the plugin.
