I’m hoping the next Waza is a rendition of the PH-1r phaser, with the addition of a switch to change between the standard 4-stages, and 2 or 6 stages. I love phasers, and this would make me really happy.

Re: Pedals that BOSS still haven't got right and ones they've got right
I recently got to play around with a SD-1W and a BD-2.
I don't know why I never warmed to Tubescreamer type pedals (probably everyone raging on SRV when I was younger), especially considering I like mids - I just always landed somewhere else, usually Klons. The SD-1W was a pleasant surprise. Definitely a mid hump, but a bit more bottom end and I reckon more bass too. I'm likely still being a bit contrarian but this'd be where i head if I needed a 'Screamer type.
The Blues Driver was a real revelation. I didn't really have a reference in my head for it's sound but I'd say it was pretty even and full. Gobs of volume on tap and actually a bit more gain than i was expecting. Kinda curious if you can run them at 18v now. The Wazas are meant to sound a little quieter and as i understand it the custom mode is their take on a Keeley Fat mod, so I'm pretty keen to pick one up. I reckon it could sound cool either side of a Rat.

Can confirm. Sounds righteous.

Re: Pedals that BOSS still haven't got right and ones they've got right
my very first pedal, purchased in 1983, was a Boss OD-1, which i used throughout the decade, first with a Peavey Backstage+, then a Peavey Bandit, followed by a Crate 100w combo and finally, a JMF (Dean Markley) Spectra series. in my memory, it was a fantastic low gain drive that would push an already hot amp into a creamy distorted state of bliss and the edge of breakup tones on a clean circuit were unparalleled. Somehow, the lack of a tone circuit made it sound soooo much better, subsequent designs were terrible in my ears. I don't remember what happened to it, I think my father sold all of my gear when I enlisted in the Army in '89 and I've never seen another available for sale. Through the 90's, I used a plethora of drive and distortion pedals, the original ProCo Rat, a Tech21 SansAmp and finally settled on an MXR Distortion+, which I still have to this very day. I'd love to find another or commission a clone one of these days; I know Boss make a Waza edition, but somehow, I can't bring myself to order one.Shadoweclipse13 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 04, 2022 4:57 am

About phasers, I really like the PH-2 for being an analog 10/12 stage phaser at an incredible price. One of my dream pedals was the moogerfooger 12 stage phaser but I'd have to sell my house to get that, and the PH-2 does emulate it very well at an excellent price point.

DF-2. So good they didn't even have to iterate.
After all, there's no DF-3.

Might have been covered already, but got an Angry Driver over the weekend for use with my function band and Boss have absolutely nailed it with this one. Blues Driver side still does all the things I need from it, the Angry Charlie is the Marshall sound I've always had in my head, the switching options make it perfect for a do everything drive for a compact board. Very happy with it.

way belated update for the sake of the historical record:cestlamort wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 1:33 pmI'd buy that boss RE-2w in a heartbeat.
Update re: Boss DC-2w.... I was super excited to get a stereo in > super amazing stereo spread. Sounds great (and just like the original) but I now strongly suspect that it sums the input signal. (Still have to confirm, but 1. it makes sense, and 2. it sounds like it sums the signal; stereo detune -> DC-2w = flat)
Not a deal breaker, but a disappointment.
Sorry all: I was wrong earlier. I rewired the pedalbaord and it appears that the DC-2W does not combine the two input signals. I didn't notice any bleed between the two sides.
Not sure how I got it wrong earlier. My guess is that the test effect I was using (Eventide H9 Micropitch H3000 preset (detune: left +9c / right -9c with a 25ms delay) sounds way more subtle and spatial in stereo than it does in mono. (I think I like it better in mono, actually, but we'll see). (One drawback of the H9 is that it automatically switches from stereo ins/outs based on what's plugged in to the jacks, and there's no user option to change it other than unplugging cords).

I was considering getting the DC-2w for my brother. Does it have a noticeable impact on your sound & where in the chain do you place it.

I really like my DC-2w and it is not very subtle at all. I run mine towards the end of my chain with my delays. It's very much a kind of chorus but it's very much it's own thing, you're not getting these sounds from another box.

Thanks. Still on the fence with this one for guitar, but saw a vid with bass which I liked. Probably better with bass vi.

I primarily play through a Roland JC40 but I keep having a weird desire to still get a DC-2W, especially when I read stuff like this. Anyone have any experience with both a JC and the DC-2W? Would it be redundant or would I find different applications for both sounds?

The DC is a different sound than a the JC chorus, “static” and spacial rather than cyclical (JC = one wet speaker, one dry speaker, too). I’ve been running a Jc77 and Jc90 in stereo but use the DC as an (almost) always-on modulation (before delays and reverbs) rather than the amps’ chorus. Note that it is nowhere near as interesting in mono.ryanthellama wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 8:06 amI primarily play through a Roland JC40 but I keep having a weird desire to still get a DC-2W, especially when I read stuff like this. I was lucky enough to find an original back when they were cheap in pawn shops. I use the waza reissue on my board and I can’t hear any difference (in the four settings).
