Demo video posted 3/31, so maybe an April Fools thing, but there’s one for sale on my local Craigslist for $150.

Re: Now I’ve seen it all.
You laugh, but Jimi Hendrix used the coily cables in the studio for dirty tones because the extra capacitance dropped the resonant frequency of his strat pickups into PAF/P90 range.
Of course, the price is ridiculous, but the idea of footswitchable capacitance is actually a great one, as long as you use a short cable and put it first in your chain.

Re: Now I’ve seen it all.
I've seen other devices which attempt to emulate cables before. I'm not sure how they'd compare to this pedal, but the ones I've tried didn't make enough of a difference to be of any use to me.
$150 is not expensive for a "boutique" pedal. It may be that this pedal is completely pointless for many guitarists, thus rendering it a waste of money regardless of price for them, but for the cork-sniffing tone addict type $150 is an absolute bargain.

I guess the one advantage which could be significant over a longass cable is it might pick up less noise.
I do get that this is a real thing for some people. Not a sound I’m into though, nor does it seem like a lot of R&D, parts, etc… would be required for such a pedal.

Forgive the digression, but "Now I've seen it all" just makes me think of this.
This is an excellent rectangle

Also, early PRS guitars came with what they called a 'sweet switch' which switched in a couple of extra caps to roll off some highs to, you guessed it, give a sound similar to old long coily cables.

So If I have $150 to spend on optimizing my toanz should I buy this or a Damascus neck plate?

Re: Now I’ve seen it all.
Well, on a pedal you get 0.5% more tone per dollar spent, while on a guitar part/guitar it's 1% more tone/$.
So obviously since that damascus plate will give you 150% the toanz, you should get both, duh

Re: Now I’ve seen it all.
Gwyneth Paltrow says I should insert it into my... ah, fuck it.
I could see the point of this for someone who is in a pristine direct recording environment and wants to add some analog flavor.
I've seen dumber things, I guess.
I have to say I don't quite get it, though... you are already plugging a cable into it and inherently there's one coming out of it, so you've already got that sound. And if you are looking at a length of 50' on a fucking pedal why don't you just use a $25 coiled cable like we are discussing, or just a 50' cable?
Edit: I suppose someone might really need that thousand foot cable sound.
Another edit: no they don't. Fuck this pedal and fuck the guitar industry in general also. Fucking embarrassing ancestor worshipping bullshit.

Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

I thought he used those cables because that’s the cables they had back then?mbene085 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 12:49 pmYou laugh, but Jimi Hendrix used the coily cables in the studio for dirty tones because the extra capacitance dropped the resonant frequency of his strat pickups into PAF/P90 range.

No, they had short straight ones, too. They actually switched out which cable he would use in the studio depending on the sound they were looking for.

And then the first pedal in your chain with a buffer ruins everything and the best laid tones go to waste.

Or why don't you just buy a capacitor for next to nothing and attach it to your input?Larry Mal wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 5:25 pmGwyneth Paltrow says I should insert it into my... ah, fuck it.
