What's the best power supply for a Pedaltrain in 2021?
I'm in the market for a new power supply for my old-ass Pedaltrain Classic. I want one that can mount underneath with brackets. I assume the Pedal Power 2 still does this? I just checked and there seems to be a lot more options now than there were a few years ago.
I would like as many outputs as possible, 10 would be great. 9 V is fine, I don't really run anything at 18v and I have a separate brick for my 24 volt Memory Man.
What's good these days? How's the new TrueTone stuff compare?

I prefer the Cioks power supplies.
https://cioks.com/home-1/
They have several options and all are made to mount under pedal boards. Some fit better than others depending on board size.
I have been using an Eventide Powerfactor for a few years now, built by Cioks.

I moved over to Cioks a few years back and now have them on everything. Used on tours and hundreds of rehearsals and countless home hours....never had a single issue.

Cioks user here too. They are nice.
That said the Classic is raised in the front, so no need for something super-slim.

I've had two CIOCKS bricks and have been very happy with them thus.
Honestly shocked to see so many others on the train. They totally deserve it, but I didn't realize how they'd usurped the usual heavies (Voodoo Labs, Trex, etc)

Recently switched to the Eventide/cioks and it does sound better. Kind of like getting your first real furniture after IKEA young adulthood.

One more pile on for cioks. I might have a spot on their board at this point after all the flex cables I've bought.

Its more like getting a fancy pencil rather than stealing the little ones from Ikea- its only a power supply.Jaguar018 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 12:14 pmNot trying to sound like a twit when I ask : in what way does it sound better, and compared to what?cestlamort wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 9:13 amRecently switched to the Eventide/cioks and it does sound better. I'm using the Warwick Power Block V10.
https://shop.warwick.de/en/guitar-and-b ... wer-supply
I'm only using 4 or 5 pedals on a small board, and this has outputs for twice that, so it's perhaps a little overkill. Main pro for me was the size. It's very compact and weighs nothing. I have it mounted underneath with some 3M picture frame hanging strips, which can hold a good few kg each, so they hold a <200g power supply super solid.
Not sure if you have any pedals with super high current draw. There's also a bigger V16 version if you need more mA.

Re: What's the best power supply for a Pedaltrain in 2021?
It's always best to list all your existing (and planned) pedals' current draws (and the summed total draw) first when contemplating a new supply. And any voltages/polarities/AC that are not standard 9V / DC / negative tip. You could get lucky winging it on someone else's recommendation ... or you could make an expensive mistake. Although not all fully-isolated supplies are expensive these days.
With that information it's then easy to match one output on every supply you're considering to a particular pedal (eg in a spreadsheet).

Me too. Spent a long time swithering over it and finally opted for a Cioks Schizophrenic. It does what you need it to do.stevejamsecono wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 9:13 amHonestly shocked to see so many others on the train. That said, if I thought I'd never need the big current potential I'd have gone with something rechargable, like a Volto.

Re: What's the best power supply for a Pedaltrain in 2021?
I’d been using one spot (or two) daisy chained for years and was pretty happy with it. But after switching to the Eventide, there was a noticeable drop in background noise (that I’d just assumed was always going to be there from using old pedals) and some pedals reacted positively to having higher voltage (diamond compressor). Not an earth shattering change or anything but I was surprised.jorri wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 2:43 pmIts more like getting a fancy pencil rather than stealing the little ones from Ikea- its only a power supply.Jaguar018 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 12:14 pmNot trying to sound like a twit when I ask : in what way does it sound better, and compared to what?cestlamort wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 9:13 amRecently switched to the Eventide/cioks and it does sound better. Re: What's the best power supply for a Pedaltrain in 2021?
Sometimes isolated outs will reduce noise of course. If it were compared to Decibel11 or equivalent i wonder the difference though.cestlamort wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 10:43 pmI’d been using one spot (or two) daisy chained for years and was pretty happy with it. But ive had the Decibel11 hot stone hc for a while and never thought to change. I dont care toi much about noise but obviously convenience, wrong volts/amps, using 12v on a few that arent advertised to for headroom and when pedals should be isolated are enough for me and the Decibel11 was cheapest at the time.
