Re: Russian Muff
I usually use my Russian Muff in a bypass loop pedal if I’ll be turning it off in the session at all. It’s messy and takes up space but solves that bypass load problem.

The reissue is good and I've heard good things about the Sovtek Deluxe.
I've owned several black Russians over the years. If you go that route be careful. Build quality is iffy. I had to replace battery connectors and ground wires in each of them.

I'm looking at an EQD Hoof very seriously right now. But I've always had my eye on a Jam Pedals Red Muck. Anyone ever play both and compare?

Re: Russian Muff
100% go for a reissue or a boutique option. I had a green Russian in the 90s and my wife had a black one, both were nothing but headaches and breakdowns. The build quality on those 90s pedals is atrocious.

Re: Russian Muff
I just went down the muff reissue rabbit hole and ended up settling on a Russian. The ram head was a close second, and at the outset I thought I was headed toward an op-amp. Props to every shootout on youtube.
