they were both for sale locally man. granted, i had to go back to ek (my idea of hell) to get them. i just wanted the overlord but the dude was like "you mentioned proco rats, i've got a few more high gain distortions if you wanna have a look" for the record, outside the battery jack, that's the cleanest DOD pedal i've ever owned (i've owned like 15 over the years) but i always tell people if you wanna try something out, that's arrangable.

btw how you getting on with selling yer premier drum kit? if it's still missing a claw, i have one if you need it

Had some interest but they were all offering a little less than i would've taken.
Decided i actually quite like the cheapo headliner hi hats i was selling with it so i took it down and will relist it sometime without em.

In any other circumstances i would come up and get the clamp but i'm not able to travel up to g-gow cos of covid. Still living at home and the fam is trying to limit contact with others.
Thanks though (:

I might have a problem with this. I seem to require two fairly aggressive fuzz boxes, one more synthy than the other, before a more musical sort of overdrive-y thing.

Big board:

Montreal Assembly PurPLL (square wave synth fuzz married to a PLL)
Fredeick Effects Super Unpleasant Companion (Shin-Ei SY2 and SY6 clone)
Montreal Assembly Positive (Hotcake variant)

Small Board

1st Gen Way Huge Swollen Pickle
Montreal Assembly Your and You're (gated, filtered Crash Sync based fuzz)
MidFi Magic(i) (optical envelope controlled OD that can do eerily good imitations of everything from a tweed Deluxe to a BF Bassman or Deluxe).

Well I’ve added an early/00s Fuzz Factory, and hand-painted Super Duper 2-in-1 and a Fairfield Circuitry Unpleasant Surprise since my post on page one...

I picked up a couple of Basic Audio fuzzes recently, and now I’m pretty certain I’ve joined a cult. :freako:

Yeah, you can’t have just one! Some of them are a bit like Devi Ever, where several are tweaks of the same circuit.. So there’s some tone overlap, but most do something positive to traditional circuits that the straight vintage correct clones don’t do. A couple you won’t find anywhere else.

I really like my Fairfield Circuitry Four Eyes. I have thought about getting an Unpleasant Surprise, but I think the Four Eyes can do some of those tones. Or at least the ones I would want.

Which ones did you end up with? I’ve been thinking of trying their Tri Ram and the Scarab for a bit now.

I have a Fuzz Mutant, a Spooky Tooth, and a Solar Myth came in the mail today. The Spooky Tooth is the one that will definitely stay on my board for times when I need a fuzz that stands out as fuzz. The Fuzz Mutant is really fun to play—odd textures and decay that keep you thinking. The Solar Myth is a test against a germanium Sun Face. So far I prefer the Sun Face, but I might get the Solar Myth out at practice to see how it sounds in a mix. I'm interested in trying a Scarab. Bye-Bias and Orpheum are appealing too...really all of them...

It does a lot with the 3 gain settings and multiple EQ controls. I mostly used a Vox Wah as a filter with fuzz and the Four Eyes replaced that. I use a Source Audio expression pedal that can send a CV signal. It does a basic wah, a cocked wah, and when set to LFO I can get a phaser-wah-filter sound like “The Diamond Sea” in the lowest gain setting.

I also use it in place of a Muff. It can do the Muff scooped tone, but I add the mids back in so it doesn’t get lost in the mix in the mid-gain setting. It’s also a pretty decent Shoegaze fuzz in the hi-gain setting with the treble rolled off.
