Surf beat from pedal or machine?
Anyone know of a drum pedal or drum machine (pre programmed) that has surf beats? I’ve watched vids of various drum pedals & did quite a bit of searching with no avail. I see there’s loops on YouTube, but I have no way of playing this through my equipment. Ideally I’d like to play this through reverb on my equipment for garage rock/ garage punk noise. Any help?

I haven't actually tried setting it up for a surf sound, but I've got a Digitech SDrum that sounds really good. I looked it up, and apparently a few people have gotten a decent surf beat from it. It's very user-friendly, and sounds great in general.

Hey man, I didn’t think I’d ever get a reply. I checked out a video & I can see how it could work. It seems like a very bizarre way of programming, compared to other pedals. But this is a good start. Thanks!
I’d also be open to keyboards with a surf beat. I have a couple Casiotone keyboards I run through a P.A using the onboard drums. Running them through a Cathedral Reverb is bliss.

One thing I'd say is that, personally, the strumming part was a bit funky. When I use it, I just teach it the beat via the 2 pads between the footswitch and the knobs. I can't keep a beat on a drum set for shit, but I can tap things no problem, and that works just fine.
I would bet a keyboard set to play drum sounds would be perfect. You could likely get anything you wanted there.

.
Look up a program called Hydrogen, runs on windows and linux, allows you to build your drum patterns and select drum tones so you can make anything you need.

I also never tried setting up for a surf sound, but I'm sure that many models can do this. For example, I use BeatBuddy Drum Machine https://singularsound.com/product/beatbuddy/, and it allows you to achieve the perfect sound of any sounds simulation. The main thing is that it sounds excellent and meets all my requirements. I looked it up, and apparently, a few people have gotten a decent surf beat from it. It's very user-friendly and sounds excellent in general. I tried surf beats, and I think it worked out well.

Re: Surf beat from pedal or machine?
Boss RC-10r and The Beat Buddies definitely have some of the classic surf beats.
They tend to be under "oldies" or "classic" or something.
The beat from Walk Don't Run for example is in both.
They're never going to sound like a drummer, but the Boss at least will do things like put the fills in for you every 4th measure.
I've had a lot of fun with both playing stuff like Walk Don't Run, Pipeline, Surf Rider, etc..

I like to program them in myself. I use Logic, but with for example a Korg Electribe Sampler, you have 64 steps patterns, a simple X0X interface, unlimited sound options and the ability to store your patterns.

Re: Surf beat from pedal or machine?
I could send you some MP3´s with different surf beats. I use them sometimes with Garage Band. Maybe you can transfer them to other pedals/machines? If you are interested, feel free to contact me.TeenageShutdown! wrote: ↑Sat Feb 23, 2019 5:49 pmAnyone know of a drum pedal or drum machine (pre programmed) that has surf beats?
