Ascend came yesterday. I like it! The toggle switch gives two useful sounds and it has a sane amount of boost and is pretty quiet. My only criticism is on this version the power jack is too close to the input. A pancake plug is a no-go.

Man, I am really digging the Colourbox. I don't care what it's based on or any of that stuff, it's a great clean boost, too.

Hudson Broadcast.
Quite possibly the best pedal I have ever owned. That's a damn tough call too, because Analog Mike may take offence that his NKT SunFace has been pipped from #1.

Tracked some bass on Sunday and went direct with my Creation MK 4.23 pushing my Barber Tone Press. Hell of a good sound. Gives a definite bump to the harmonic content without being obnoxious about it.

I forgot which member here gave the boost into compressor tip, but it’s a great one.

so i've been playing around with the transistor socket in my madebymike saltbooster. lower gain transistors dont distort as much. so i went through about 200 transistors finding the lowest output one and it sounds perfect. super clean but distorts just a little when i push it.

also while we're speaking about boost pedals. i fixed my pharaoh class a boost.

Excited to read that you like your Broadcast. I bought a Broadcast a few days back, It's the "Great White North" white one. Anxious to start playing with it.

I'm not sure if the white one is re-voiced original (different transistors) - but the original 4 knob version which had the double switch was simply the 3 knob version with the gain knob separated for each circuit and individually engagable boosts (you could double it up)

I was happy enough to have the original 3 knob version as I do not often use the upper gain stage (high gain circuit side) as I run mine @ 24v and use it as more of a clean boost with that little bit of crunch on the top. I would be super interested to know how you like yours and how it sounds.

when I want the gain-y stuff I have a ryra klone which is voiced a little more toward the growl, and then there is the BD2 which is setup somewhere between both. At the moment my TS is not really giving me any love, and while I'm not going to pull it from my new board (under re-construction) It may be just that I need to use it differently. (my TS9DX has all the TS voicings in it)

What, no mention of the ORIGINAL "Clean Boost", the EHX LBP? Why not??? It's only been around for nearly 50 years!!! :)
I use the Nano version of this pedal pretty much 100% of the time. I've been using it over 10 years.

Yeah, that thing is really cool, if you don't look at it as a one trick pony "Beatles" board-distortion pedal. A lot of variable, usable stuff in that box.

I just recently bought some Barber pedals - the BUSS, the Gain Changer and the Direct Drive. I use all of them on the low gain settings, they have some really great natural sounds. They all share the Super Sport for the high gain, and it's cool, but they really shine as low gain pedals.

I need to try the boost into a compressor thing, especially since I recently pulled out my Katana and have 2 compressors I'm not using at the moment.

Thanks for posting that.

It's a boost booster, to boost your boost - it makes your tone much muchier.

Bryan Sours (Soursound) just announced he’s doing a V2 run of the Hundred Dollar Boost.

Looks like surface mount stuff. It will also have a momentary mode, which I think could be really handy.

Probably going to get on the waiting list for this one.

so speaking of clean boosts. i'm mid prototyping one of mine. it's a heavily modded LPB-1 circuit and it can go anywhere from perfect clean to "holy shit the transistor is dying"

So I'm dumb and didn't see this thread... so I made a different thread about this... but I might as well post here too.

What's a good "clean" clean boost? I'm not going to use it to push my amp into overdrive, I just want extra volume when I need it.

Anyone have any experience with the Analogman Bad Bob Boost?
