This is fucking poetry, and as good a lyric as any Smiths song.

But I'm with the crowd here that's just sick of this hype cycle. Not because I can't afford this one, but I just hate the idea of pedals as collectables. Old rare stuff, I get -- but "manufactured TO BE collectable" rubs me the wrong way.

That said, I'm sure this sounds awesome, I love KS, I hope he gets a huge payout, I hope everyone who wanted one gets and enjoys theirs, and I do think that suboctave option sounds pretty cool.

Here's hoping something less premium comes along soon so there's a new production-model Fender Blender on the market for people to try, even if it does normalize one of my secret weapons.

My assumption is that’s what he used on Only Tomorrow… unless it’s been stated otherwise?

I have no idea. Someone mentioned “You made me realize” as a possibility. I’m not hearing it though, and I never saw it used live.

He did, and probably still does, like to sample guitars and then pitch shift them up an octave or two. And he’s experimented with a number of octave fuzz pedals, so not surprising that he would have a Blender. I just don’t think it was ever an integral part of his sound.

Which would be a great laugh on his part, that the offset tremolo actually IS an integral part of his sound, but instead of a guitar, Fender pays him for a fuzz pedal he rarely uses.

"Not Mikey's Fender Blender RI Mod"

Step 1: remove R34 and R35
Step 2: replace R34 with a wire jumper
Step 3: swap the poles of the black and white* wires on the TONE BOOST switch.

(*Critical note, I don't specifically remember the details of doing this mod, so it looks like I replaced the white wire on the Tone Boost Switch with the thin purple wire you can see there. It goes to a spot on the board called WHT SWB1.)





The RIs pricing has been nuts for a while now, but at half the Shields Blender, it's a relative bargain!

I really like the enclosure of the Fender Blender. Fender should make a whole pedal line with this kind of enclosure
