Squier Bronco bass when I need some lower noise
Is that some kind of Hot Rail in it? Don't think I've seen that done before.

Yes, it's a random AliExpress copy, I wasn't huge into the strat type pickup that was in there and with the tape wound strings I needed something that was less susceptible to noise. I have a mustang control plate on the way so I can run this bass without a pickguard and try a few direct mount pickups.

It's a pretty clever idea, using a rail pickup. Does it reproduce all the low end stuff a bass needs properly?

I guess it does ? I'm not a specialist in bass amplification, one of the studios at the place we play at has some kind of big ugly bass amp and even a guitar downtuned can sound massive with the proper setting on it. I would have to compare the bronco to a more standard bass in that kind of amp to have an idea of what it does bad or wrong.
I mostly used the fretless guitar tonight because their wasn't any bass amp available, and it is very enjoyable to play. I don't have a great ear for pitch so I'm probably not perfectly Intonating but we improvised some great interlocking dual guitar parts and it sounded pretty fine.
