They are such cool pedals, and over the years I've really come to appreciate the design genius of Boss.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 2:50 amThere's always something wonderful about seeing a Klon next to some Boss. The ultimately ridiculous alongside the wonderfully ubiquitous

Re: your effects setup?
There's probably something poignant to be said here about age and wisdom or something but I can't think what exactly...but Boss sure got it right the first time for sure.

I've also come to appreciate the DS-1 and BD-2, especially a DS-1 going into a BD-2.
I've come real full circle with Boss...they were cool and available in the early 90s for me, but then the 2000s hit and I went all-out boutique handmade...this lasted for decades, but now I have finally come to my senses and enjoy a healthy mix of rare and run-of-the-mill.

Yeah same for me. I got into boutique pedals near the beginning, around '93-94. It was an exciting time. I still kick myself for not buying a gold horse logo Klon for $260 new or whatever they were. I went for the $140 Marshall Guv'nor instead haha. But my first boutique pedal was an Autograph series Roger Mayer Mongoose, the purple spaceship. I still have it. My first pedal ever was a Boss Heavy Metal in 1989.zhivago wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 1:03 amI've come real full circle with Boss...they were cool and available in the early 90s for me, but then the 2000s hit and I went all-out boutique handmade...this lasted for decades, but now I have finally come to my senses and enjoy a healthy mix of rare and run-of-the-mill.

very happy with these right now, i don't think i'll ever need more unless i swap something out. i recorded and mixed an album before i got the UAFX Dream 65 and i re-recorded the whole thing with it and it sounds great! best amp modeler i've tried, beats Strymon Iridium and Humboldt Simplifier for Fender cleans.

Re: your effects setup?
I finally finished with some changes to my board and am feeling pretty excited about it so I snapped this at rehearsal this week!
Signal path goes Mini Cry Baby > Stingray > NS-2 > LM-2 > Booster > Polytune. In loop of the NS-2 I have the CS-2 > OC-5 > HarmonyMan and in the loop of the HarmonyMan I have the FZ-1W > OD-3 > Morning Glory (with Red Remote) > Rat.
The CE-2 in the top right is just an on/off for the built-in chorus of my JC-40 (I bought the pedal broken and took out the original circuit and put a simple switch in, knobs are dummys). Then my amp FX loop is the rest of the top row, so PH-1R > BF-2 > VB-2W > Analog Chorus (for when venues can't mic both cones on my JC) > Monument > Time Machine.

Re: your effects setup?
this is my board. i haven't changed anything in 1,5 years and don't have monthly GAS-attacks like the years before.
which is a good sign, i guess.

Re: your effects setup?
The same for me. If it sounds good, I'll use it I have Boss and new MXR stuff right along side my Moog, ZVEX, Analogman, etc. I'm sounding like a broken record here, I'm sure, but my old RV-2 is the perfect example. It was my first reverb pedal. After a few years, I went on a hunt that lasted about a decade trying to find a "better" one. I am now back to the RV-2 and it's perfect for me.OffYourFace wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 3:05 pmYeah same for me. I got into boutique pedals near the beginning, around '93-94. It was an exciting time. It's not that I don't think there's merit in boutique stuff, it's more that if something works, then it works.

So much for me building a budget board…
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Budget schmudget.
That board look like heaps of fun. I’m seeing a slot for a vibe or phaser, and maybe a low-gain drive of some description?

Current setup for my band. It was a long process to get to here. Gain pedals were the hardest to figure out. I mostly play rhythm parts and getting my rig to balance with the other guitarist took a lot of experimenting.
