Should I sell my Klon KTR?
I purchased a Klon KTR at retail when they first dropped. And it's a lovely pedal. But recent re-sale prices on Reverb have ranged from $450-$800. Should I just flip mine and use the $$$ to purchase something cool...like an older Deluxe Memory Man

I vote yes. Get a copy that sounds 99% the same.

Absolutely.

If you like the the look/layout/"mojo" of your KTR, keep it.
If you only need the audio effect of the circuit, there are are least a dozen spot-on clones that can be had for under $250 (and at least a dozen more clones that are 98% the same with minor tweaks).
...but then you also need make sure you're ok with selling for $500-800 now, and not regret it if they start going for $1,000-1,500 for some stupid reason in a few years... it's also possible they might only be fetching $200-300 in a few years, it's anyone's guess!
Anything paid beyond the $329 original price of a Klon Centaur is just inflation adjustment and "collector's value" (i.e. speculation and bragging rights), neither of which can be heard.

Re: Should I sell my Klon KTR?
Maybe?
Chances seem good that they'll continue to appreciate, so if you don't absolutely need the money and use it regularly maybe hang onto it. The deciding factor for me on selling things is often "Will I want another one of these in the future, and if so will I be willing to pay what it costs THEN?".
Like others said, there are other pedals that will get you very close sonically, and since you have the KTR in hand you have a good opportunity to A/B and see how much you notice or care.

On which note, please start at the bottom end of the market - i.e. Mosky Golden/Silver Horse - and report your findings. You'd be doing a fine public service if you do.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 10:01 pmsince you have the KTR in hand you have a good opportunity to A/B and see how much you notice or care.

Re: Should I sell my Klon KTR?
After buying a KTR, I sold my silver Klon that I had bought used years ago when the prices were not too insane for similar reasons: it was worth more as cash to me than as a cool pedal.
I even bought TWO KTRs thinking I'd make a killing flipping the second one, but I was impatient and sold it too soon for no more than retail. [I've never been very good at gear flipping].
At this point I don't think KTRs are all that special. There are a zillion great sounding clones, and since you bought it new, you can sleep at night knowing that Bill F got $$$ for his labor.

I would say yes but am still haunted by the fact that I sold my old silver centaur for $550

Re: Should I sell my Klon KTR?
The ktr is nice to have to pull out every now and again and be reminded of how good it actually is. I mostly use the Centura at home, as it fits my all black board motif, and it’s 95% there, but the ktr does something just a touch different.
My vote is to keep it.
