It’s a 100, which is what I had previously too. What about the 50 do you prefer?
Dunno, it just has really sweet cleans and is a great output level that works well for me.

Yeah makes sense. I think I’m just leaning towards the 100 because that’s what I had before. There’s actually one on reverb in the Uk for a decent price but I think it’s about a 3 and a half hour drive from me. I’m tempted though, very tempted.

Burton-on-Trent, and I’m down in Kent. I feel like there’s a limerick in there somewhere.

I'm offloading my '78 Bassman 135 if anyone is interested (Farnborough, Hampshire, UK)

I should put up a FS thread actually. I'll do that now

See, this one of the reasons I can't part with a Bassman. It's such a wonderful double duty amp!

Seen your bassman on eBay, I was looking around for a bassman 100 but can’t imagine there’s a world of difference between the 135 and 100. Just gotta see if I could take a trip up to pick it up. Think you’re a couple hours drive from me.

Thank you! I've been dreaming of this bass for years and just finished building it.

Yeah, there's not a huge amount of difference really, not much you'd be able to hear really. Obviously the eBay price takes into account fees etc so fire me a message here if you're interested 🤘🏻

Excellent, thanks a lot. I might shoot you a message and see if I could arrange a drive up some time.

Edit: scratch that, I see it’s sold. Not to worry. You snooze you lose I guess. :D the hunt continues.

Just back from the shop for the first time in 15 years.

Image

New small electrolytic and bias caps. Filter caps got changed in 2008, still looking good Tube sockets tightened up, they'd been slipping. They fixed the faceplate and screwed down my warped grillecloth until I replace it, if ever. Tubes seem to have lots of life left, and it's been given a clean bill of health. Amazing service.

I'm stoked. Sounds amazing. Like it had a facelift. More detail, more presence, more Fender. But still full and rich, just refreshed. Eats fuzz pedals.

Reclaiming it's place as my first choice, now that there's zero doubt about its health.

Bassman on, my fellow Basspeople.

The amp was in Burton-on-Trent
Poor Russell lived way down in Kent
A weekend drive could collect him his prize
But leaves him no money for rent!

Its cool that you're from Kent, on of my favorite professors is from there.

Both the amp and the bass are beautiful. Where did you get the grille cloth for it?
