Amazon 212 Speaker Kit
I got this pretty inexpensive cabinet kit on Amazon. It is pretty small and lightweight. The fit was really tight which I am sure is good. I got the front, top, bottom, and sides glued and clamped first.

Then I glued the back on, which in hindsight was a mistake....

Now I need to figure out how to mount the speakers to the baffle without having access to the back.....
Any ideas?

Re: Amazon 212 Speaker Kit
You can front mount them. Many amps do it that way.
The only issue you may have then, is the speaker flanges being forward from the baffle, so grill cloth cant be flush to the baffle.

How do you mount them from the front? Just use wood screws with a washer?

The exact same as way as you would from the rear. There are a number of options but theyre the same front or back.

Normally I would use a bolt with a nut, but I can't hold the back to tighten it down.

You could use t nuts on the back side. I would tighten the bolts you’re going to use to install the speaker *without* the speaker to get the teeth on the t nuts to fully seat, then remove the bolts and install each speaker.

+1 T-nuts are the solution.marqueemoon wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 12:57 pmYou could use t nuts on the back side. I would tighten the bolts you’re going to use to install the speaker *without* the speaker to get the teeth on the t nuts to fully seat, then remove the bolts and install each speaker.

Awesome! I will make sure to order a set. This is how it is looking now. I need to put some stain on it so it isn't naked...

Re: Amazon 212 Speaker Kit
Just get a jigsaw and cut a removable panel out the back? You could quite easily cut a rectangle out, say, 4" from the perimeter, add a couple of internal braces for when you screw it back on.
Then you can mount as intended

Cool! Hopefully there is space between the edges of the speakers and the sides of the cab to fashion a grille frame.
You could also get some perforated material to protect the speakers I guess and stand it off with some big spacers.

Inserting the jigsaw blade means drilling a hole which will then show or at least not make a clean seam. You could try and plunge in with a circular saw but that's a bit much.

Or drill into the centre of the cutout, then arc the saw track to one of the edges.

Re: Amazon 212 Speaker Kit
I used one of these for a front loading, closed-back 15 inch bass cab. It worked fine. I am assuming that you could find one for a 12-inch speaker.

True. There'll be a way around it though. The plunge is a good shout if the tools are available. I'd either drill the hole right against where the line is and use that indent (after tidying to a U shape as somewhere to rout a little webbing/string tab as a pull for the panel.Dr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 1:05 pmInserting the jigsaw blade means drilling a hole which will then show or at least not make a clean seam. Or I'd use my dremel with a cutting disc to make a slot to feed the jigsaw blade in.
Yep, then glue it up and use the centre hole as the starting point for the jack input panel/socket.
Or, just mount from the front and rock it 80s/90s PA style Carpet covering and all hahahah

Re: Amazon 212 Speaker Kit
Thinking laterally, why not mount the speakers pointing inward? Unique sound for sure.
