yeah my plate was thrashed like that. I think they only used them in 68-69 but not sure
Anyone else bought an amp because of a guitar hero's opinion?

Must be Blonde/BF Showman/Showmen? Because of Dick Dale... I was obsessed with his sound some 20 years back or so...
Hunted the grail, got a friend of mine fix an old '66 BF showman... Oh joy.... Combined with a 15" (or 2) and a Fender Reverb unit.... Surf heaven....
Sold the amp after I stopped playing guitar in bands, just too freaking loud....
Friend of mine still has it and gig's with it, so all good!
Nowadays I play less expensive vintage amps that do a pretty good Showman impression on lower volume

It's possible. I bought the Twin around 2006-07 from a guitar shop in Burbank, CA that's long gone. It needed work to get it sounding right and is now converted to an AB763 circuit.OffYourFace wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 3:33 pmthat looks a lot like my old '69 Twin Reverb. Whether it is or not, my old '69 Twin is what forced me to learn about amp repair and enhancements.
1969 was Fender's worst year for amps due to the fixed & cathode hybrid bias ckt and I had no idea at the time. It was a learning lesson. Our admin Jay really helped me get that thing going properly.

Nah I bought mine in 2009 and sold it in 2010. Jay and I converted it to AB763 and I think I used a bunch of Blue Sozo caps.
I believe I sold it to a guy who was a music teacher.

How do you like these Mesas? I had a tremoverb and an F50 years ago and they were excellent in the gain department. I’m trying to remember their feel and it’s been 10 years and I was inexperienced at the time. I play mostly ambient guitar, but am seriously contemplating a Boogie again

I've never played through one apart from a Bass 400+ and that's a different beast entirely. Often intrigued though as most people know that the MkII was the amp of choice for Prince and, when I was a teenager, all the punk bands I listened to seemed to use dual/triple recs.Unicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Sun Jul 30, 2023 6:29 pmHow do you like these Mesas?
