You could pop the preamp tube in V1 to play out of the normal channel. Some he-men do that while the amp is on!

Sounds like the Oxfords are a little brighter?!! That's wild, the 12" and 10" oxfords I have are darker than JBLs, and also darker than Jensens. The drips sound great on the oxfords!
Yeah, I know that. It was too late in the night to start messing around and pop V2 into V1 slot. I've unfortunately left a 5751 at home that I wanted to use in the V1 of the normal channel., which I like better than 12ax7 variety tube in that channel. Anyway, my preference is the vibrato channel, on Bandmaster as well.

Definitely, Oxfords are brighter, thinner sounding, and a little 2D. JBLs have better spread in the room (that's what I think people refer to as 3D sounding?) and are fuller/fatter sounding.

If not using the vibrato, the normal channel is where it’s at in this amp. I use the normal channel in mine about 80% of the time

the midrange is much more noticeable in the jbls. i like it. the oxfords sounded fine especially for surf to really bring out the high end reverb tail.

i’ve never played a celestion I like, but i’d definitely try with my super if I come across them.

sounding good! my super vibrato isn’t perfect so i’m currently adjusting and modifying to get it where I want it. proving to be a very hard vibrato circuit to nail. once I do that i’ll post clips of my amps i’ve built.

The Celestion Gold is really a very, very different thing from what we commonly think of as "Celestion."

I'd never put a Gold in a Marshall cab, for instance. Pretend it has a different brand name and try one

Yeah I totally agree. I’ve never much liked Celestion ceramics, but the Gold and Blue are perfect for me in all kind of amps.

Tommy.

Yes, the midrange is more present with the JBLs. Regarding the high end reverb tail: as I mentioned in the previous post, I didn't change the EQ setting after making clip with Oxfords. Normally I run bass control a little bit lower with JBLs. Then the drip/high end tail becomes really, really musical and deep if I turn up the dwel control on 6G15.
Looking forward to hearing sound clips of your home built Super!

You and ziess are a very, very bad influence on me! ;) My wallet doesn't like that at all as I now want to try 10" golds as well :)
