Re: Ampeg B15 rebuild
This is complete now. Cab arrived yesterday. Very nice cab; took a fair bit of time to deliver. No regrets.

Beautiful. Here’s hoping for 60 years of good tone to come.

AWESOME! That's the one Ampeg I would like to have. Someday maybe. All the pictures of the wiring on page 1 aren't coming up, I want to see them!

Re: Ampeg B15 rebuild
yeah, it's a drag.
I don't keep an image hosting account anymore and OSG doesn't yet support local image hosting, so I was linking them from the Ampeg B15 facebook group.

I actually can't! It says invalid and I have no FB account, so perhaps they're just banning guests. Ah well.øøøøøøø wrote: ↑Sat Feb 25, 2023 3:43 pmYou can see the whole story by clicking through the gallery here:

Some things are blocked when you're a guest, and some things aren't. Aside from private groups, I can't find a pattern or reason for it. My wife will send me links from things she's posted and sometimes I can see then and sometimes not.

Looks so sexy! And is that a blue agate Rogers kit behind it? Or maybe an old Slingy?

The lugs look like old Slingerland ones for sure

Re: Ampeg B15 rebuild
Nice! I've owned 2 early 60's Slingerland kits, both in 22",13", 16" w/14" snare and both in blue sparkle. Slingy's are monster kits and way underrated! I've mostly only seen th agate style finishes on Rogers drums but a few Slingerlands with it.

Re: Ampeg B15 rebuild
Underrated drums for sure.
Rogers and Camco were the super high-end kits
Gretsch had the unique die cast hoops and all the famous NYC players/endorsers
Ludwig had the Beatles
Slingerland were just as good as most of the above, but their moment was a bit earlier (Krupa, Radio Kings)

Re: Ampeg B15 rebuild
The drummer in my band got gifted an old 60s 14x6.5 Slingerland brass snare about 6 years ago from an old lady that came to his work. It's probably the loudest snare I've ever heard.
Ive had a couple of shell sets from that period too and they always sound great and had a really nice well-grounded sound to them. They really came alive when tuned up a bit higher than you might initially go for.
