Quiet Night Practice Solution

Post by Larsongs » Sun Sep 25, 2022 5:54 am

What’s yours?

Someone mentioned using a Distortion Pedal with the Level turned to almost Nil or 0.. I gave this a try last night..

My Amp Volume between 5-6 & other Settings are set as usual. I turned the Level to 0 on my Ibanez TS-808 Tube Screamer.. Then I barely turned it up & it works! I still get the same Sound as usual. Just at very low Volume.. I tried different adjustments on the Gain knob from Clean to Max Distortion.. It worked!

Cost nothing..

I got a Yamaha THRII with a headphone out. Works like a charm!

Prior to that, I'd play unplugged or into a Boss ME-50 with headphones and it sounded pretty good too.

I also use a Yamaha THR-II. Have had it for about two years now and love it, great sounds through either headphones or its built-in speakers. Dial the amp of your choice in however you like, and the Guitar Output knob lets you control the overall volume perfectly.

Anything that lets you use headphones. Even DI into a GarageBand amp sim should be fine for practice

I usually just play electric unplugged at home.

The OP’s tip is a good one though.

I do that too.. That is by far the easiest without a doubt.. But, no real Sound or FX.. But, still very cool to do..

I also have Logic Pro X. I run my Guitar thru my Clarett 8 Pre Interface & use Logic’s Guitar Amp Plugins & FX then listen through Headphones.. It is pretty amazing all the Amps, Spkr Cabs, Mic’s for the Spkr Cabs & the Infinity Pedalboard.. The possibilities are endless!
