Re: Jupiter speakers
Bringing this thread up from the mortuary slab.
I just ordered a Jupiter 8SC-4 to try in my Vibro Champ. It's had an old Weber AlNiCo in it since I got it and I've never actually tried something else in it.
I've read they're kinda like an 'improved' Jenson. We'll see

Re: Jupiter speakers
i'd be curious to see how this goes. right now my traynor is sitting with the only speaker i had to hand (a celestion rocket) and i've been looking for something to replace it. if they're voiced like old jensens then i'll roll with it.
offset guitars resident bass player.

I don’t know much about Jupiter speakers, but it says “user does not exist” when you click on Sauerkraut.
That sucks. He was a solid poster with some cool stories.

Re: Jupiter speakers
I'm curious what you think. I replaced a cheaper Weber AlNiCo in my '79 Champ with a Juspiter 8SC. I feel like it's an improvement for sure. I don't know how close it would be to the original Jensen, but I'm impressed with the speaker.JSett wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 10:38 amBringing this thread up from the mortuary slab.

Re: Jupiter speakers
Still love the Jupiter 8sc in my 2 Champs I listed above, still play them both constantly, especially the '69.

Re: Jupiter speakers
Mine came today. Man, what a handsome speaker. Love the hammered teal. Nice cork gasket too... Feels and looks quality.
Went in without a hitch. I haven't given it a full-volume test yet but I've had it to my usual home volume and it's wonderful. The Weber AlNiCo I had in there before was very smooth but lacked a little sparkle. This, although not as rich in the mids, is very present and hifi
So far, happy.

Re: Jupiter speakers
Take it slow, break her in proper. She'll loosen up after a good number of hours and you will notice. Depth and bass will increase. Don't push the volume too hard too fast or you could do some damage.
They do look damn fine

Fortunately I'm rarely above about 5 at home with it - the music room is only small and our apartment is relatively open so sound carries. 90% of my playing with the amp is around 3 on the volume
