Advice Needed: Line Out Amplifiers
I’m not very well versed at using line outs on amps. So, my question is do they make an amp with a line out that gives signal to the PA, but can still pass signal through the amp speaker at the same time?
The reason I want this feature is because I find myself in situations where monitor mix space is precious and electric can inhibit what the vocalists are hearing. So, in order to hear, I’d still have the sound coming through the amp speaker.
I currently just mic my amp like everyone else, but, to save setup time and less things I have to cart to gigs, I was just curious if anything existed like this.

Definitely a few. I tried a Tone Master Super Reverb today. Sounded pretty meh, but has an XLR out.

Is it able to pass signal through the speaker and the line out at the same time?marqueemoon wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 7:29 pmDefinitely a few. I tried a Tone Master Super Reverb today. Sounded pretty meh, but has an XLR out.

Not sure. You’d have to check the specs, but my guess is yes.Unicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 6:21 amIs it able to pass signal through the speaker and the line out at the same time?marqueemoon wrote: ↑Sun May 08, 2022 7:29 pmDefinitely a few. I'm not sure on this as I don't have one myself, but don't many of those cab sim boxes (like the two notes torpedo, red box) have a 'speaker thru' output that can be used in conjunction with the XLR output? you should be able to use that with any amp with a speaker output.

A lot mute the speaker. Some don't. I have an HH bass amp with both options labelled 'record' or 'mixer' out if i remember rightly. Often "effects loop send" is exactly the same thing, if not it has level changes/buffering involved, so you break the connection to power amp.
If there is a power amp IN, fx return etc then a splitter box can go in there, (maybe a DI box with cab sim is perfect?) to achieve this. The same deal with amps that don't mute when you use line out, its just not hard wired.

*another option is one of those boxes that are similar to an attentuator, placed on the speaker cable ("line-out tap"?)

I think a lot of Mesa Boogies had a "recording out" jack on the back panel that would do what you're asking. But you would have more flexibility (and better sound) with something like a Cab Clone running between the amo and speaker.

The most important thing is having a great sounding Amp. Don’t sacrifice the Sound & compromise getting a lesser quality sounding Amp as many Amps won’t do this.

Before I went full Kemper I used a Palmer PDI-09. That way you can use any amp you like without worrying about line outs.

Re: Advice Needed: Line Out Amplifiers
I believe that using a line out and not muting the speaker is more common on bass amps. As a sound engineer, I've used it many times on bass amps but never on guitar, mostly because guitar cabs are just so much easier to mic and mix. Mic'ing up a bass amp was always just a pain in the ass and never sounded quite as good as the direct out.
