New Amp Day - who wants to guess?
Well. The most unexpected thing happened.
An amp that was on my interest list for a long time was posted in a fb group at 2am I was still awake and the first to comment. Even got it cheaper because I once used my occupational therapist/Jedi powers in the past to cure him from his back pain by only giving advice over the phone.
Had the money he was asking and as it‘s my birthday soon I thought why not...let‘s give it a shot!
The amp arrived today which was quite fast as he sent it away on Thursday. Looks killer! But it needs to see a higher impedance than my at home cab can provide. So I haven‘t played it yet. But I can make room to go try it tomorrow.
So, hints: it’s my second ever vintage amp. And these amps in particular were built from around 67 to 79. it has >30 <100 Watts and it bears a cool name.
Hmmm, what else to give away?
It‘s supposed to be a rather clean but powerful amp.
It‘s also not the brand‘s most famous amp.
Any guesses? Even the features/number of channels or country of origin might give away too much information.
But I‘m giving away more info if the right questions are asked!
Have fun!
Edit for typo (it‘s already late here).

I’m a PTA and used to be a Rehab Director at a Skilled Nursing Facility. Now I work in public health fighting HIV. It’s just cool to see someone on here working in a similar field.
With that said, idk what the amp could be. Silver Face Fender Pro reverb? Or maybe a Hiwatt of sorts?

Hiwatt / Sound City?
"I don't know why we asked him to join the band 'cause the rest of us don't like country music all that much; we just like Graham Lee."

Welcome colleague. I‘m also in my last year of Osteopathic Medicine (which won‘t make me a doctor in Europe - still „just“ a therapist) I‘m mostly working with neurologic and orthopedic cases.Unicorn Warrior wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 3:47 pmI’m a PTA and used to be a Rehab Director at a Skilled Nursing Facility. For the guesses: so far no hit. But warm guesses and yeah, you seem to know my taste - I was long on the run for a Showman and really hope this amp will take me in that territory.
The guy who sold it to me described it as a big boy Fender... with more Bass.

Re: New Amp Day - who wants to guess?
Some good guesses...
But let me give you a little more help: it‘s (sadly) not a blonde/brownface amp - but my second favorite (silverface - aesthetic wise) ain‘t wrong. But maybe it‘s not a Fender at all.
Today it is anyhow often associated with heavier (guitar) music than this one can deliver!

Some kind of Sunn? 100s or Sceptre?
Edit: just noticed it had to be <100w so I'm gonna say Sunn Sceptre as I think those were 60w

I heard they just had a lot of names for basically the same amp layout with some tweaks. Don’t know exactly... But it has the same features (Reverb & Vibrato).

Re: New Amp Day - who wants to guess?
I'm sorry. Sunn is already correct. I hung myself up on 100s and Sceptre. And thought if I'd mention the similarities between those (Sunn) amps in the 60s and 70s you'd start asking about the other names!johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 1:42 amSome kind of Sunn? 100s or Sceptre?

So yes, a Sunn it is! 100 points to Johnny Somersett!
Can we solve it before I hit the rehearsal space in about 30 min?
