I know I'm not really the target audience for these, but I'd really rather see just a vintage-faithful recreation of the Vibro Champ than to see them shoehorn in things that weren't really all that necessary to begin with. Champs and Vibro Champs are amazing recording/practice/small gig amps, but if I wanted something with a bigger speaker, more output, and reverb, I'd just get a Princeton.redchapterjubilee wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 6:38 amOne of the amp's engineers is all over other forums and says the VC is too small to put a decent spring in, hence the chip reverb. I dunno, I think of it as a bonus, considering that Vibro Champs don't normally have any reverb. Personally, I'd rather have the 10" baffle and digital reverb than an 8" baffle and no reverb whatsoever. I'd be just happier with the 10" baffle. I did not like the silverface VC I had several years ago.
It's like asking for an effects loop on a 5E3 Deluxe-- sure I guess you could put one in, but why?

Disappointing that there's no spring tank, even though I like digital reverbs too. The thing about the tank being too small is BS. Eurorack has spring reverb units that are tiny but sound better than digital emulations. I'd rather just a faithful vibrochamp than this.

Aaaaahh. Too bad. I just played one today was impressed how nice it sounded.
But I too thought it was more or less a „5W Princeton Reverb“. The Digital Reverb is a bit of a downer - so now there is no further investigation required.
The Pro Reverb is also a sweet amp!
And I just dig the dripedge look of these!

When you're dealing with 8" speakers a small change makes a huge difference.redchapterjubilee wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 6:38 amOne of the amp's engineers is all over other forums and says the VC is too small to put a decent spring in, hence the chip reverb. I have a 65 VC and it has a Weber classic in it - it sounds utterly fabulous and doesn't lack in anything. It's probably the best sounding amp I've ever heard in that 4-10w range
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

There is certainly enough room in a VC chassis to fit two additional 9 pin valves to accomodate a reverb circuit and enough room in the amp body to fit a short reverb tank
I’ve done it at least four times
And they all sound great

relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

That‘s what I thought too.sookwinder wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 6:41 amThere is certainly enough room in a VC chassis to fit two additional 9 pin valves to accomodate a reverb circuit and enough room in the amp body to fit a short reverb tank

The Vaporizer has that small reverb-pan why couldn‘t the Vibro Champ have one too.

One of the Lead Guitarists in my Band has the 68 Princeton Reverb which includes Reverb & Tremelo… It is a killer little Amp!
If I didn’t already have a 65 PRRI I’d get one of those…
The Pro Reverb is a very interesting Amp… I want to try one.. In addition to it’s features the fact that it weighs 30 lbs gets my attention…

Zac Childs sure likes his.
Same goes for my man, Eric Haugen.
Sounds pretty good to me. If I weren't swimming in amps, I'd buy one.

The Vibro Champ is cool if you don’t want Reverb or Tremelo…
I don’t use a lot of Pedals & prefer Reverb & Tremelo in the Amp.. Less stuff to haul around… Which is why I like & own the 65 PRRI.. Plus, it gets good Cleans & Breakup.. Quiet enough for Practice, perfect for Recording & Loud enough for Gigs.
Re; Princeton Reverbs….. Mike Campbell seems to prefer them also…

I take it back! Great if you want a little Amp…
My only nit is it’s priced so close to a 65 PRRI it would detour me to the PRRI because they are such versatile multi purpose Work Horses… Again I defer to what Mike Campbell says about them…

I have a 74 Vibro Champ and a 65 PRRI. I love them both but if I could only have one it would be the Princeton.

I agree that the vibro champ digital reverb is actually a benefit. adding spring reverb COULD be done with FETs, ala surfy industries, but usually it's done with adding tubes. The least intrusive way with that circuit is the best. Vibro Champs are very good.redchapterjubilee wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 6:38 amOne of the amp's engineers is all over other forums and says the VC is too small to put a decent spring in, hence the chip reverb. I built my champ into an oversized cabinet so I could switch to a 10" speaker/baffle, but I've honestly been loving the 8" I have in there.

I thought brown Princetons went up before the Stapleton. When I started building mine in 2016, the prices were already getting out of hand. brown panel and blonde panel fenders seemed to have been discovered by the affluent Nashville crowd over the past 6-7 years, unfortunately. When tweeds became just absurdly expensive, the 6gX amps were the obvious next target.N0_Camping4U wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 5:43 pmThat's about the price of a vintage vibro champ, which means vintage ones will go up. Kind of like what happened with that Chris Stapelton (or whatever) brownface hand wired brownface princeton. They were priced the same. Brown face vintage princetons shot up over night.
I would grab one of those champ reverbs for 500 or so in a couple years.
I may have missed it, is it tube powered?
