I might just get an AC15C1 used on CL to tie me over. Most of the demos online sound pretty dang decent.
They may not be cork sniffer good but they're pretty well regarded by everybody else.

You can’t go wrong really. Hardwired is cool and all, but I probably wouldn’t be able to decipher any difference between them.

I had an AC15C1. Sounded lovely with the JM.

Worked fine for gigs, although stage sound was a bit small next to drum kit & bass.
I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

That's good to know. I just want it for home playing & recording. I appreciate that the tubes sockets are mounted to the chassis for a cheap amp where others use a PCB with sockets on it. But this is the Dream Amp thread so...

After doing some research, I almost have the itch to build something but.....ehhhhhh.

Get an AC15C1, gut it, and build a proper AC15 using its chassis and iron (or replace the iron if you so choose).

I would be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about doing this several times a day haha. I was also thinking of waiting for a used Mojotone NC3015 to pop up and tweak that. I’ve seen a lot of well built Mojotone kits on the used market, mostly tweed amps though.

There's a used Hi-Tone 50 (Hiwatt) available at a decent price and I'm taking a ruler to my knuckles every time I think about going to the shop's website. I'm working to convince myself that I really wouldn't notice the difference in 50W Hiwatt through a Power Station vs. Fractal Hiwatt model through a Power Station to the same cabinet.

edit: phew I looked at the site and it sold

Do you want both channels? Or just one or the other?

I agree get an AC15C1 with a UK Celestion Alnico Blue Spkr.. Swap out the Tubes with some Tung Sols or JJ’s & your done! Great Amps..

Better yet, If you can find a clean used AC15CC1X with a UK Celestion Alnico Blue Speaker.. Swap out with better Tubes & your done..

Both Amps have either 4-5 Tubes! Amazing considering the Great Sounds that these Amps make!!! Not 10 or 12 Tubes, like a Fender or some other Amps, costing several hundred dollars to upgrade…

Good luck…

That's a good question. Having both the normal & TB channels would probably be nice.

I agree. I haven't seen any used C1X models yet. I guess people like them.

The USD-GDP exchange made it possible. The only time inflation has ever done me any good. Now I gotta shift this Laney before it gets here!

The dr504 is still #1 but this has to be a close second for me. Congratulations!
