My New Mini amp (Brian May Vox)

Post by northern_dirt » Mon Mar 24, 2008 5:33 pm

I was kinda interested in these for the last little while..
But was kinda miffed they were discontinued..

Went past one of the local guitar shops and boom..
They had one.. New Old Stock I guess it wasn't used..

Lots of gain, sounds like its got some Mids pushed through the roof..
I likes it..

The white is pretty cool..

Its kinda a weird amp, it has an output called "Booster output"
Its supposed to work as a pre-amp to drive a larger amp..

Though more like a distortion pedal, with a speaker haha

Awesomeness! nothing like a little vox.  8) My score for this week was a Roland cube 60.

Got it dirt cheap from a local pawn shop, you gotta love the living room amps.

I have some squier deal, ive never played and it hasnt left the trunk of my car that a guy who sold me a jagmaster gave me.. But I dont count that..
I have a Roland JC-60, Marshall JCM 900 (head) and a Peavey 65 Bandit.. the Peavey and Marshall Ill be selling.. too big for my use now..

The BM and pathfinder are entriely different..
The BM has a TON of gain, even in the "clean" channel once the gain is at max, its pretty crucnhy..
not so much with the Pathfinder, though it does have some crunch once the "distrotion" is put in..

Also the BM only has a TONE pot while the pathfinder has Treble and Bass..

The BMV also has this mid range boost, which is fairly grindy, reminds me of minihumbuckers
or P-90's..

interesting !!

I have heard the pathfinder is the best mini transistor amp for clean sound

I hesitate, a transistor amp or a tube amp to play at home, I need a headphone out.
