Deal?

Or No Deal?

:-\
I'd say no deal at that price. I got mine in Europe for around $700, and I've seen them go on eBay (although that might involve shipping, which is a scary thought with a monster this large) for around that as well. They usually go for less because of the shipping (lots of local pick-ups). If you could get them to knock it down by $100 or so and they're close enough to do a collection, you're getting in the zone.

Would you want to keep it as-is or do a cabinet rehousing? If the latter you could always wait for a tatty one to come online. I'd hate to buy a mint condition one and then have to tear it apart.

I would think a Super Six for $700 - $750 if it were in really nice shape would be a great deal.  That thing was killer but I must say, I'd have traded it for the Hiwatt as well.  And those are some damn fine curtains.

...I would grab a Quadraverb over a Super Six just because it's ten pounds less...and you can find em for around $400...

Yeah, but that's not really indulging in the whole excess of it all now is it.  ;)

I'm not really in the market, but I saw that one on consignment at a local shop. Just wondered if it was priced right, I guess not. It's been there for awhile, that's probably why. I never thought to ask here about it until I saw your comment that they are the same as the Twin and it got my wheels spinning on another project involving cutting it down. Another project (especially an expensive one) is something I really DON'T need right now.

$1700 for a non-original super reverb is not lousy IMO.  That wouldn't sell for more then $1400 on ebay is my b est guess.  The Super 6 for $600 is a bargain.  I mean, it's a six speaker twin reverb!    Talk about loud and clean.

The Super 6 for $600 is a bargain.
He says he's selling it for $600/700 or make your offer because he needs the cash.

Based on that.... I'm certain someone would offer the whole $700.

Making an offer of $650 on his doorstep cash-in-hand might be worth a shot too in "need the cash" situations...

Shoot, I was thinking $550.

I really don't understand some people's selling tactics. I mean, he's already indicated he would take $600 and then invites offers and implies desperation. Who the heck would give him $700? Why even advertise that way?

you advertise 6 or 7 that means he wants 7 but will take 6.  by saying 7, someone who really wants it will pay up to 7.  you can look at it like they aren't getting any cheaper and it's not like you see them every day.
