NAD: 1976 Peavey Standard PA

I'm almost done bringing mine (a '73) back from the dead. It has seen stuff...hot, hot, burning stuff. My first pass through was to be able to power it on:

I hope mine shows up in better shape! My ability to fix an amp begins and ends with deoxit, which with any Peavey I've encountered so far is all they needed.

I knew it was in rough shape for $50. I enjoy the process of this sort of thing and have a background in Electrical Engineering, so it's a nice weekend project for me.

I'm envious of your skills, for sure. I know just enough to know I barely know anything (yet), but I can't resist sub-$100 solid state heads from the '70s.

Honestly, if I weren't dealing with wall voltages, I might dive deeper, but triage and a very careful 3-prong conversion is as far as I can take things. I don't want my own cheapness or ignorance to risk any grounding/personal safety issues. I love my Kustoms and Kasinos and Peaveys, lol, but not enough to die for them.

But it's awesome to hear you're getting one back on its feet, these things don't deserve to die on a scrap heap just yet.

You're taking the smartest approach! It's best to recognize what you're confident in doing and not extend changes beyond that level.

My buddy offered to clean up my Standard PA "B" version inside and out and interestingly enough he said that the channel input jacks on mine are plastic and soldered directly to the board which surprised me since your "A" version does not and my newer Special 130 has off the board jacks too. It's ready for another 40+ years now I just need to pick it up!

My Standard PA needed a bit more love but luckily my friend has a lot more experience and offered to take it on for me.
