Re: What are y'all's dream amps?
My dream amp for a long time now has been a Fender Tweed Bassman but in head form so that I could use it with a closed back cab.
Sometime when I have the time and money I'm going to try to build one!

If you're new to building and need a starting point, start with a JTM-45 kit. Virtually the same amp, easy to make the necessary changes, and JTM-45 kits are widely available.ragamuffin wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 4:19 pmMy dream amp for a long time now has been a Fender Tweed Bassman but in head form so that I could use it with a closed back cab.

Thanks! I understand they're extremely similar amps. I've built one amp (5E3) but I'd definitely still consider myself "new" to it.Dr Tony Balls wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 6:07 amIf you're new to building and need a starting point, start with a JTM-45 kit. I built a Valvestorm jmt45 around 2016 and am thinking of selling it. It's just a working chassis right now and could use a head cab. PM me if you're interested in it.ragamuffin wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 4:19 pmMy dream amp for a long time now has been a Fender Tweed Bassman but in head form so that I could use it with a closed back cab.

I used pretty qiality parts and Metro-spec Heyboer OT and PT with a ClassicTone choke. I have the Heyboer choke too, just never swapped it in.

Thanks for the offer, looks like a killer amp! I’d have to decline for now though as I’m starting a new jazzmaster build and that will be soaking up all my spare cash for a while.hulakatt wrote: ↑Sun Apr 30, 2023 11:33 am

My favorites are the ones I used to own... '63 white Bassman 2x12 with a custom Fender built 2x24 cabinet with Lansing speakers!
Rivera era 2x12 Concert
'68 Showman 2x15 cabinet
'69 Bassman 2x12 cabinet
And a Showman I converted to a 1x12 with a custom cabinet
Today I like my Pro Jr...

Re: What are y'all's dream amps?
oh man, this is a forgotten dream of mine! i’ve had dozens of dreamy California-made amps over the decades, but this one has eluded me in the wild,
not to mention any online example is well out of reach.
i feel as a Southern Californian, it is my birthright to have access to at least one each of our native creations.
it is humbling to consider this one, though.
good to know that i’m not completely spoiled.

In my previous statement, I had a completely different view. But as of now, my dream amp is a Tone Master Princeton Reverb. It's lightweight, very gigable and it sounds fantastic!
