NAD - Friedman BE-Mini
Ok, so I won’t suppose that anyone really knows my taste. But I have been trying to figure out a specific sound.
And I finally bought something to bin off my DSL5. But what is it?
It’s a small head, based on a classic & the perfect cheapo amp for home & demoing, maybe even practices with a 4x12, whilst I figure out getting a “proper” amp.

Re: NAD
These are all reasonable guesses. Except the Victory. I’d probably put the Sherrif 22 or V4 on my real amp list.
Not Marshall, orange or victory.

That'd be my first bet.MayTheFuzzBeWithYou wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 1:44 pmOne of those Joyo Amps with Classic Voicings? Or the Fender Bassbreaker?
Otherwise maybe one of these:

These last two guesses are bang on the size, but not the brand.

Re: NAD
Vox MV50 High Gain or Friedmann BE? Or Yamaha Katana - but your „it‘s based on a classic“ says otherwise.
I actually didn‘t know about most of those mini amps before.
Surely some (more) interesting stuff out there - but (again) where is Fender in that mini and micro amp (head) game? Besides the 20 year old Mini Tonemaster and the Mustang that is just a jack adapter and not a „real“ mini amp?

Winner! One of the 4 new mini amps that all seem to sound pretty similar, from what I could tell from the videos. Bogner/Soldano might be slightly more flexible, but snagged this on a slightly better deal. And it’s only a stopgap.
Picking up a cab tomorrow so will report back.

Re: NAD - Friedman BE-Mini
This thing sounds really good. It can’t do much except overdriven Marshall, and it does that really, really well. There’s not a lot of change in the gain, mostly from 10-2, just like the BE-OD pedal.
The biggest surprise is the ‘cut’ switch. It’s 3-way. Middle seems pretty pointless, although there’s a distinct change in gain between 1 & 3.
Scooping the mids is giving me all of my post-hardcore & early skatepunk dream sounds
Need to roll back to 1 on my LP to get a clean tone though. Will take a bit of getting used to a single channel amp now that I’m older & not 100% overdrive.
Could be the best little toy I’ve ever bought.

I know SOUND is what matters most, and it seems like you dig the sound.
That rig LOOKS unassailably awesome. Play on like a badass.
Congrats, my man. It kicks ass, makes YOU happy, and not a modeler in sight.
Welcome back to madness.
