I also wouldn't argue with a Fender Vibro-King, preferably in Blonde.
Yes! I didn't know about these. They look brilliant!
I'd like that as a head with a GZ34 tube rectifier (no compromises on dream amps, however small) and maybe a bit less power (let's shave 20-30 watts off of that 60) and I'd run it through a 2x12 or a 4x10.

What I really want is a Tremolux/Bandmaster head with reverb.
Or a Vibrolux or VibroVerb head?

Or the 67-75 Bandmaster Reverb head?

I might have just scored one of my dream amps, a Blackface Vibrolux

I had a 72' Vibrolux Reverb for too short of a time, it was an amazing amp and, looking back now, possibly the perfect amp for me. So of course I traded it. To an In-Law for a same-year Princeton Reverb. Which sounded like crap. That Vibrolux has been that In-Law's main gigging amp ever since :( and they have no desire to trade or sell it back.

The biggest issue if I had another Vibrolux would be which speakers would I put in? A pair of Jupiter 10LA-P or a pair of Celestion Gold 10's?

This one already has a pair of old Weber's in it. Win win.

Those are a nice pair, that's what I had in mine.

I've been a fan and avid user of old 70's Eminence squarebacks for a couple of decades. Stolen out of Peavey cabs for 12" and 8 at a time from 70's SVTs. I'd be tempted to put some of the ones I have here into it but, at 32ohm a piece, I can't get even close to the 4 or 8 the Vibrolux would like.

I have a Weber Alnico Classic in my '65 VC and it sounds glorious so I'll no doubt be happy with the ones coming in this one.

I've had Weber's in a lot of amps but the only one I think hasn't been bettered by Jupiter was the super humble and cheap Weber Sig12a. It was the perfect speaker in my old tweed Deluxe clone, it rolled off the bass at just the right frequency to prevent the infamous "cab rattle", and it was the perfect pair of speakers with an old Silvertone 1484 I had for a long time. They just sounded old and so much better than the "better" Webers.

Other than that, I generally prefer the Jupiter speakers I've tried instead.

I've meant to try them a few times and I think last I checked (which was AGES ago in fairness) there was no distributors this side of the pond which made them prohibitively expensive. Looking now there seems to be some these days so maybe, next time I need something, I'll give them a go

Hmm, yeah, that would be a hinderance. Next time I build an amp, I want to try using their caps. I've heard good things but not many people have tried them out much.

i've had a few speakers in my 73/74 vibrolux and the current favs are the emi legend ceramics. big and punchy. the original alnicos are really nice but a totally different character (one needs a recone), softer and more lofi. would love to try some jensen neodymiums in there but haven't been willing to drop ~£200 for a pair, especially gigging as infrequently as i am now.

Funny, my Bassman is a 67' bf too! It's a tremendous amp all around.

Try a pair of Golds for something different! I run a pair of Golds with my Bassman and they match up great, nothing overdrives quite as well as the Golds do and they sound pretty nice clean too. I even run my bass through this rig.

The Tremolux is technically identical to a Vibrolux, just more practical being a head. I realise I’ve really not done my research here though, and you’re right; a Bandmaster Reverb would fit the bill. Good move by CBS-era Fender, finally putting reverb in a head. The early, tube rectified, 40-watt version looks amazing. It does look significantly heavier than a Tremolux or Bandmaster, but that reverb tank does need to go somewhere.
