Awesome refin! Can't wait to see it put together - IMO this is one of the coolest jag projects I've seen yet  8)

Actually the frets are just the ones that were on the neck when I got it .. not sure if they're original or not. I'm going to wait until it's all strung up to see if it needs a refret. If it does it'll have to go away for that, it's not something I trust myself with, not in a vintage neck anyway.

Wow! I can't wait to see the finished result! I am getting ready to do a '65 Jag and seeing your '63 has made me more excited about mine. I can hardly wait to get underway!

Looking great.

Is that an original decal or a repro silkscreen jobbie that you or Curtis had?

There is a lot of Jag refinishing going on here!

It doesn't look like a screen, too gold and the JAGUAR spacing is correct (the silkscreen repros are browned out and the JAGUAR spacing is too wide). It's a good repro whatever it is. The only thing I notice is that the patent numbers extend all the way to the G in Jaguar on a real one.

Not nit-picking though, I think it looks great!

I think Mez's decal is one of those european ones we had access to some 6 or 12 months back, but have stop being produced now  (strats and teles are the flavour of the month)

in this pic below the bottom two are the same european decal and the top one is a decal I got through  "Gordy's Music" on ebay.  The top one has a more acurate  "J" than the bottom two.  where as the bottom decals have a more correct "thickness" in the J A G U A R [the gordy music one is too thick]. As Doug mentioned the spacing on the J A G U A R is too wide on the bottoms decals, also the small "offset contour body" decal is better on the bottom decals.

Thanks David!

Too bad no one makes a spot-on repro. The silkscreen repro JM and $trat logos are  :?

Jags are like Rodney Dangerfield... no respect. Ironic, as they were top-of-the-line in Leo's mind...

Edit:  I think the top one is what Jim Shine once referred to as a "cartoon logo". I have a Mustang logo like that. It's die-cut and not awful, but just a little "thick" and surreal.

As a side-note... the wide spacing of the bottom two is perfect for the black logo. I think whoever made those assumed the JAGUAR part was the same. Check it on a pic of a black logo... the spacing is wide like that.

aaaahhhhhhhhh  that why ....  I always thought it was some optical illusion or strange angle with the photos I have seen of jags with black headstocks and different logos  ....  makes sense now...
