Rare Color AVRI Jaguars on Ebay Now!!!

Post by Daysleeper » Sun Apr 15, 2007 10:36 am

If any one is looking to buy a American Vintage series Jaguar, there are some pretty rare colors up now on ebay! Fiesta Red and Inca Silver. These are pretty rare colors to come by now since they have been discontinued by fender. I think the Fiesta one is a fender custom shop cuz I don't think they ever had a fiesta red reissue in production. I know they had Candy apple red for a short time, but not fiesta.

Here...check them out for yourselves:

Thought I'd let you all know about these. I'd rather see them go to someone on this forum than a young kurt cobain wannabe punk with a lot of cash sittin around.  :D

I love fiesta Red too, but usually with a red Tortise Guard. I love that combination.

although that mint green guard looks awesomely ugly too!

Fiesta Red was a standard AVRI colour from '99 to '00, as well as Candy Apple Red. Dakota red was available in '01 and  '02. At least, that's what my collection of Fender Frontlines tell me. I just leafed through a bunch of them, that's what I found.

I just scored a '00 AVRI Jaguar in CAR with matching headstock. Obviously very rare. I like it quite a lot  ;D

They offered fiesta back in '99 - 2000 when the AV first began. I had one, and sold it to fellow forumite Sookwinder, who still has it. They were discontinued after a few years, but are recently available again (with matching head) in the Fender thin-skin series.
Q. Are we not men?

I stand corrected! Man...you guys know your stuff. I don't remember hearing anything about Fiesta red reissues. Thanks for your insight.

These look like the new AV thin skin Jaguars to me.

The matching headstocks are a giveaway. Fiesta Red is one of the colors issued, and I believe the Inca Silver shown is actually Shoreline Gold.

After sending back two of the Sonic Blue (my first choice) thin-skin Jags due to some fit 'n finish problems, I ended up with the Shoreline Gold model. And it doesn't look very gold - "Inca Sand" would be a better description, using the Fender terminology. Although it looks butt-ugly in that strange color, the Shoreline Gold model I ended up with is the best playing Jag I've ever laid hands on by far. Just shows you never can tell until you try one out.

Perhaps these thin skin Jaguars aren't selling as well as expected at $1599, and now they are trickling onto eBay? Doesn't bode well for future offset reissues.

The two guitars pictured above (at the start of the thread), do not have matching headstocks.

Here they are:

Yes, you are correct on the Fiesta Red - the pictures posted at the start of the thread were kind of vague on the headstock, but the pictures in the auction leave no doubt.

But I'm still questioning the "Inca Silver" model - looks like it could be a matching headstock to me.

I really don't think this guitar has a matching headstock. The ebay auction says that it is a 2006 reissue. Inca Silver wasn't available in this year, so... that means?

Me neither. I admit the photo is not the best, but it's still clear enough to tell it's not a matching headstock, IMO.

Yeah, that's weird.. but then, it wouldn't be the first mistake in an eBay listing right?  ;)

Of course, but it does say that it is in 10/10 condition. Who knows, maybe it's a custom shop jag and whoever gets their hands on it will have gotten a custom shop jaguar for little money.

Yeah, after looking a bit closer, I agree the headstock on the "Inca Silver" is probably a natural one. But the shade of the guitar in that picture looks exactly like the "Shoreline Gold" thin skin Jag I have.

It's all in the lighting. Metallic finishes can photograph dramatically different due to numerous reasons. They're generally hard to take pictures of.
