1962 Jaguar. Good Price?

Post by Daysleeper » Sat Apr 14, 2007 1:54 pm

I just saw a great '62 Jaguar in a store the other day. All original except the light green finish that the guy said may be a custom color done by fender. It looks amazing! Definite wear on the body but in a good way....looks really "beat in". it comes with Original Hardshell case. The action and neck look great. It's in great working order.

They want $2000 for it! Is it just me or does that sound like an amazing deal? :o

let's assume it is a refin, as if "light green" was actually foam green or surf green then the price should be in the $3k - $7k area.

so is $2k good for a refin ...  well it isn't bad , but there are some better deals to be had on ebay every now and then , which may save you a couple of hundred.

also is every thing under the hood genuine ?  does it have the original whammy bar and bridge covers .. they will set you back $120 and $70 as a minimum

it could be a reasonable deal but then it may be over priced by 2 or 3 hundred depending what case candy is there.

if it is genuine fender green paint job  .... go and buy it now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
relaxing alternative to doing actual work ...

Yeah it's got all the stuff with it. Tremolo bar and OHS Case. It looks to me like it's probably not a fender paint job...looks more like a really old refin from late 60's - early 70's, but the store owner seemed to think it could have been a rare fender paint job. I shot him a little lower price, we'll see if he gives it to me.

hey Jeff is the shop local?  I wouldn't try to swipe it from you.. I'm not in the market anyway, I'd just like to take a look and check it out if it's nearby.

pm me if you'd prefer

Hmm, not a bad price then considering it's in Ontario.
The cheapest refin jaguar I've found in a shop was also $2000, which was about a year ago, and it was refinished really well in a sunburst. It was a beauty.

It's the one in Ottawa right? It definitely looks like an old refin. Fender never offered that kind of green and custom colours almost always came with white pickguards, not tortoise like this one. It looks pretty good, though, and if everything is indeed in order, it's not expensive (especially if the price is in Canadian dollars)!
