Yamaha Kevin Shields Sig Model?

Post by ginnungagap » Fri Mar 09, 2007 7:59 pm

Anybody ever hear of or even have a bonafied sighting of a Yamaha Kevin Shields (the dude from My Bloody Valentine) Signature Model guitar?  I believe it's supposed to be a Jazzmaster copy but it might be a shorter scale.  I heard a blurb about one existing, I think it was on Wikipedia but not positive.

I've certainly never heard of one, and I'm a huge MBV fan.

Ibanez re-released their Jazzmaster copies with Kevin Shield's name I believe.

Yeah he had an Ibanez Jazzmaster, I've never heard anything about Yamaha though, although he did use Yamaha rack units.

Wikipedia's been wrong before.
Kevin Shields was a paid endorsee of his own signature model copy of the Jazzmaster, made by Yamaha, in the early 1990s.
in the paragraph titled IMITATION http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazzmaster
Why should we buy postage stamps? We can make our own.

I can't find any evidence of it, doesn't mean it's not true though, it certainly would be cool if he did have a signature model.

KS did endorse the Ibanez Talman - though it was never any knid of sig model. There were ads in guitar mags for the Talman back when it was fairly new that featured a phota and a quote from KS. I can't recall the quote exactly, and I no longer own the mags, but he seemed pretty keen on them, and mentioned that the original Talmans had non-wood bodies.

+1

He did endorse the Talman, I think you are thinking of the Yamaha procesor

Cool- thanks for the information everybody.  I figured that it was probably a case of Wikipedia being wrong but was hoping that maybe there was something rare floating around out there.
