Re: Custom/Maverick?
I notice that the maverick has split staggered half pickups. If you want a modern version of this consider the G&L Comanche which has 3 "Z"-pickups, which are 3 split half pickups. Leo Fender used the split half pcikups in this, his last design, and in the version I have you can switch on any combination of half pickup, including only one half of one.
This is the Comanche 6 as opposed to the Comanche 5 which has a strat blade switch and a miniswitch.
I have the 6 and my son has the 5.
These guitars are very unique in the sound you can get and when you roll off the tone controls you get a really thick sound, not just a muffled bass sound.
The 6 is no longer made because G&L thought that musicians found them too hard to figure out.
But that doesnt stop us, the holders of Jags where switches abound.

Have you got a pic you could post? Sounds a bit high for a refin.

Re: Custom/Maverick?
Agreed. I would think a refin should be more like $1500-2000 tops.DarrelT wrote: Have you got a pic you could post? Sounds a bit high for a refin.

You can ignore the post in the xii thread.
Is it labled as a "Custom" or a "Maverick"? I've got pics of a white refin somewhere, I'll try to find and post.

Is there a real guitar the Hard Rock pin was modeled after?

Re: Custom/Maverick?
I've always liked the upper horn of these, but the back edge just doesn't do it for me. Any photoshoppers out there care to do a mock up of a Custom body with the back edge being rounded like a JM? I'm guessing it would look like a Jazzmaster body with the more boxy top horn but it's hard for me to visualize.
