As for the pickguard, your last pictures show the warping pretty well, but still, it doesn't look that bad.
??? Do you think they're different screws to normal '59's??  ???

Edit - Just looked at some other pics. They are big too!! Are they normally any different to the pickguard holder screws (size-wize)?? They're bolts though, right??

??? Oh... ???

These are bolts (they each have a small nut on the back)

How easy to find are the original screws?

Great pic, Zhivago.. Although, for a 1959, there should be small nuts in the back (we had a discussion about this in the past on the forum).

I'll post pics..

So, jazzheadmark, it's just the screws that are wrong. I agree with Zhivago that they may not have to be originals, as they are scarce. I'm pretty sure the ones from an AVRI would do. By the way, I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be the same as the ones holding the roller pots bracket.

It's exactly the same screws that are also missing from AJBennett107's 1958 JM in the other thread....
Maybe someone here has some in a parts bin?

I think this is Doug's 1958:

This is my 1959 (not the best of pics, but the nut is different - the screws don't go through it all the way).

jazzheadmarks's guitar is the proof that it didn't. It's a tortoise shell pickguard with nuts in the back.. I don't think anyone can say precisely when the change occured, as everything could happen with Fender!  But in general, I think 1960 is the crucial year.

Don't we just love these small details?  ;) :D
