I recently acquired a Sherwood green JM Jag with some wear. I hope this helps:

That’s all I have for the time being, I’ll post pics in the main thread once I get it back from the shop 8)

I have had an a olympic white one, played one brief show with it, otherwise it just sits in my music room on a rack and in my lap when I play it, and it still has probably 8-10 chips in the finish.

Is the JM Jag really nitro?? It looks like it doesn't wear... More like it cracks

Yeah it chips. I'm not a fan of the way it wears- but it's because it has no matte undercoat i guess. It's a 'flashcoat' i think.

It has a hard, clear poly-like shell under the thin nitro. You can kinda see it in those Metallic KO pics there. Its not bare wood under that top coat

It's seen some (ab)use over the years.

I had a Metallic KO and can concur it ages like the pictures show above.

Personally, I thought it was a really disappointing finish. Felt like it wore really easily, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but that the wear wasn't that authentic. Shouldn't a metallic finish wear down to some kind of silver base coat for example, or at least a white primer?

Personally, I think I'd prefer a poly finish if this is how the modern nitro finishes are going to wear, although I think the AV65/AO finishes might be a bit better?

Agreed. Though I love the colour itself, the wear feels a bit underwhelming. Has an 'abused' vibe rather than 'well played'. I've toyed with having mine refinished in champagne sparkle ala Grestch...

Well there is a silver base coat visible on the spots where my Metallic KO has scars. Is this not the case with earlier Metallic KO’s?

Is this a function of the JM Jag finish or are all of the new "nitro" guitars aging like this? Can't really recall seeing aging pics of other models.
