Greetings! Recently got my hands on my first ever Jaguar (American Vintage 62 in Ice Blue Metallic) after wanting one for years (actually, decades). I got it in trade for a slightly higher value Telecaster but I got a few extras in the deal to even it out.
But now, my overactive imagination is making me question if this thing is legit. From what I see, build quality, finish, etc. it looks legit but I wanted the opinion of more seasoned folks.
One thing that has me wondering is when I plug the serial (V157131) into this website, it shows the production date as 2001. However after popping off the neck, it looks to be dated 2005.
I'm not worried about build date as much as I am making sure it's a legitimate American Vintage, and I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Looks fine to me. The bridge isn't original, but is likely an upgrade.
Edit: According to the Fender website, V+ 5 or 6 digits means it was produced between 2001 and 2009, but it also notes specifically for the American Vintage series to check the neck for the specific year. Yours was made in 2005.

Yup! Forgot to mention, it was confirmed at the trade that the bridge was swapped, but the original bridge was included.adamrobertt wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 11:58 amLooks fine to me. The bridge isn't original, but is likely an upgrade.

Congrats, nice Jag. Also, nice photos. We love that over here.
I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

Looks good to me, i’m pretty sure I’ve read (possibly on here) that AVRI serial numbers can’t be used to date the guitars, it’s not until the AV series that the first two digits after the V denote the year.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
