How does the Johnny Marr Jaguar age?

Post by Talesmusic » Wed Jun 24, 2020 4:25 am

I have a Johnny Marr Jaguar in KO Metallic for 3 months and I noticed that the back is already a bit scarred due to the thin nitro lacquer. Now that the model is about 9 years old do people here have some photo examples of how the guitar ages? I’m curious of all the examples with a lot of scars. Does somebody mind to share?

I am so close to getting one of these. Just need to make sure it’s what I want.

I've no pics of the damage, but I owned the LPB for about a year, got it when it was just released, and it had significantly more finish chips and dings than all my other guitars. Didn't play it more than the others. Personally a feature I enjoyed, but YMMV.

A friend of mine has one of the Olympic white ones and I think she's been the sole owner for a few years. Our bands played a show together last year and I got a close look at it and the back of it had a pretty significant amount of finish wear. I thought it looked badass but it all depends on what you want. I have an American Original Jazzmaster and it seems to have a pretty thin finish too and I'm totally fine with it.

Mine's pretty beaten up. I'll see if I can shoot a few pictures.

Looks pretty good, all things considered, the bowl haircut isn't helping.

I’m torn with the neck. I have a strat that has vintage frets like on the Marr and 7.25 radius, but I also enjoy the larger frets and the specs of the neck on the American Professional Jaguar. I played both and would likely be happy with either model, but the Marr just seems a little bit more special I guess? The finish, the pickups....

I put some major belt buckle rash on mine. I guess that's the price you pay for the thin nitro finish.
